The veteran actress Sharmila Tagore who has made her foray on the small screen as a judge on a reality show Dhoom Mache De is now being wowed by TV producers to accept offers for serials. Sharmila confesses that initially she was not ready to do TV and in fact took the advice of her granddaughter Sara (Saif’s daughter) whether she should accept the reality show. It was after much deliberation and some encouragement from husband Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi that the actress obliged the channel. Despite offers for serials Sharmila is not keen on doing any of them. In a chat with tellychakkar the charming actress gives her reasons. “Television now doesn’t excite me. I can’t see myself working for such long hours just for two to three scenes. Bollywood is a total different genre,” says Sharmila. What made you come to the small screen? “There is no particular reason for taking up television. I took it up as I feel its fun to do such kind of shows and presently I’m enjoying my stint. Beside that 85% of the crew members of Dhoom are women. They are so energised that they energise me as well just by looking at them,” she adds. What are the criteria on which you judge the participants? “My criteria are based on how they had performed for the day, why that particular singer chose to do that particular song, the attire, the interaction with audience. I don’t compare the singers as each has his individual style,” she avers. Are you now ready to take up more projects on television? “I don’t mind doing television if I get content like Dhoom. I can’t stand for 14 to 15 hours a day and do fiction. Besides there is no social life and I don’t want that to happen with me, not at this stage of my life,” she informs. “I don’t mind doing shows like FRIENDS or Silent Fitness. I would love to do comedy but I can’t hammer my social life,” she concludes. Are producers listening?
