Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the actor who was born with an iron spoon in his mouth has come a long way today, both professionally and personally. From doing odd jobs to earn his daily bread to becoming one of India's finest actors, Nawazuddin's story is stuff that Bollywood legends are made of.
Despite having won rave reviews for his acting histrionics, Nawaz hasn't forgotten his struggle period and the tough days he encountered before making it big in tinsel town. As a matter of fact, Nawaz started off as a C grade actor before graduating to mainstream Bollywood. “When I initially came to Mumbai, I worked in a few C grade movies, the names of which I will not reveal. Not many people know about this,” reveals Nawaz.
Call it fate or destiny, Nawaz's next movie Miss Lovely as a lead actor too, has a plot that revolves around the world of C grade cinema of the 70s. And having been a part of such cinema in his struggling days, Nawaz can very well identify with his role in the movie.
“Since I have been a part of such cinema, I could very well identify with their mindsets, their parties and how that world functions,” says Nawaz.
Miss Lovely will also finally see Nawaz making his debut as a lead actor. Having been a part of multi-starrers till now, Nawaz finally seems to have got his due in Bollywood. “I am absolutely excited”, chirps a joyous Nawaz and adds that his days of acting in side roles are over. “I will only do lead roles henceforth,” says a confident Nawaz.
Miss Lovely which is set in the sleazy world of Mumbai's C grade film industry also stars former Miss India Niharika Singh. Ashim Ahluwalia is the director. The movie has received an adult certification from the censor board and will hit theaters on 17 January, 2014.
