Director Mrityunjay Devvrat, who has helmed Children of War – Nine months to Freedom (Bastard Child) one of the most awaited films of the year, has now resolved to bring the film out in the open on 21 February 2014.
Considering the strong and bold subject of the movie, the director wanted to bring the movie to the public and spread the message of ‘acceptance’ towards the victims. And he presumes that this is the right time.
Children of War is based on the Bangladesh genocide where thousands of women were raped that resulted in the birth of illegitimate children during the war for the liberation of Bangladesh.
The film depicts the nine months of inhuman attacks of the Pakistani army during the genocide that took place in East Pakistan in 1971 and the struggle of the Bangladeshis to attain independence from these atrocities.
Eagerly awaiting the release himself, Mrityunjay observes, ‘I made this movie to share with people the inhuman activities that happened with Bangladeshis during the genocide. Children of War is not just a movie for me; it is a part of history that needs to be told. It is a movie that requires time to get in your system and the best time for me is now. I want to be at the right place at the right time. The awaited release in February has just given me more time to pass across the message. I can’t wait.”
The film stars Raima Sen, Farooque Shaikh, Pavan Malhotra, Victor Banerjee, Tilotama Shome and Indraneil Sengupta among many others.
