Remember Priyadarshini Singh, supposedly a social activist and the youth leader of a political party, and one of the girls vying for Rahul Mahajan’s hand in Rahul Dulhania Le Jayenge. Well, the Miss Queen of Blah from Varanasi is back in our lives and in action. She is part of Imagine’s forthcoming show, Zor Ka Jhatka and already had some off-screen action with the incorrigible Raja Chaudhary who allegedly misbehaved with her. She, of course, slapped him hard!
TellyChakkar spoke to her about her experience, about King Khan (Shah Rukh Khan is hosting the show), about the unfortunate Raja incident and her future plans.
What happened at the airport with your co-contestant Raja? Can you tell us about that?
Certainly! I have no qualms in sharing this with the media because they always help us in facing such situations and I respect that.
At the airport, when we were boarding a flight for Argentina, Raja was drunk and he tried to misbehave with me. His gestures were not right. I slapped him and he wasn’t expecting it at all. He thought I would keep quiet because of the situation but he had no idea who I am and how I would react. After I slapped him, he started abusing me very badly. Thankfully, the authorities took charge and brought things under control soon. Raja really needs help.
Even while coming back from Argentina, he misbehaved with an air hostess and thus was detained in Sau Paulo. He deserves it. What prompted you to do Zor Ka Jhatka?
After Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayenge I had been offered a few fiction shows. Unfortunately, they were too ‘girlie’ for me so I refused them. After that I was busy shooting for my first Bhojpuri film with Ravi Kissen in Darjeeling and then Endemol offered me Zor Ka Jhatka. I liked the concept and thought it is all about fun and adventure so I agreed.
How was the experience?
Amazing! I have never been adventurous during my school and college days. I was very good at academics and always concentrated on that. So ZKJ for me was more like a self discovery! I think everyone should do this at least once in their lives.
When I landed in Argentina after a 32-hour flight from India, I realized there was no way I could run away from it simply because it's so far away! The first day was a pleasant surprise for me as I was not sure about the stunts. I am quite scared of heights as well. Somehow I performed and on the second day I got hurt. If you watch me in the second episode, you will find me like a joker. It was really funny and people around me were laughing a lot.
What is ZKJ all about?
It's not just about stunts. It's definitely not Fear Factor. It's mostly about stunts in water and about falling. Our general response when someone falls is to laugh a lot. So in this show whenever someone fell, we have a great laugh irrespective of who it is and thankfully, no one minds!
Have you made any friends in this show?
Yes! Mink, Rohit Verma, Vindoo (Dara Singh) bhaiyya, Kushal Punjabi – we had a great time.
Isn’t Dimpy Mahajan too part of the show? Did you speak to each other especially since you had a crush on Rahul?
(Smiles) Yes, she is. Well, Dimpy and I are completely different. Our wave lengths are different. So we hardly talked but we did exchange pleasantries. And talking about my crush on Rahul, let us stop that now. He is married now and I am not mad to have a crush on him now. That crush was over once I was eliminated form RDLJ.
How was it meeting Shah Rukh Khan?
Out of this world! I am a big SRK fan and he is a natural charmer. The other day at the party in front of everyone he came up to me and said, "Yes sabse zyada badmash ladki hai, aur isne bahut achha kaam kiya hai." You won’t believe I was getting goose bumps and was shivering! Then he asked me what happened and I was so nervous that I could not respond to that either! Working with him also gives me a high when we were shooting in Argentina. He was talking to us with 3G network from the studio which was terrific.
Who was the best in the show? How much did you achieve?
As you know there are no eliminations in this show. Kushal did a commendable job. He is quite a fitness freak and a very powerful guy. For me it was a welcome change as I have tried my level best to achieve and am happy what I have done in the show.
Varanasi to Mumbai – will your political career will take a backseat now?
No never. My social work, my political career is my responsibility and acting and participating in reality shows, my passion. So my responsibility will never take a backseat for my passion. I will continue doing both.
