Contrary to baseless reports in a section of the Mumbai press that the Pakistan premiere of Eshwar Niwas’ Total Siyapaa had been called off, the event in Karachi on last Thursday went off like a charm.
In fact the Karachi premiere at Nueplex Cinema was so successful that one more city, Islamabad has been added to the original premiere plans of Pakistani premieres in Karachi and Lahore.
According to first-hand reports from Karachi the film’s Indo-Pak love story was warmly accepted by the Pakistani audiences.
“They laughed at all the Indo-Pak jokes, and laughed the hardest at the Afridi dig. It was an evening of fun and no one was getting hyper over cross-border issues. They all wanted to know where the film’s leading lady was,” says source from Karachi.
Yami Gautam, we believe, chickened out for security reasons.
Connecting from Karachi Ali Zafar said, “The Karachi premiere rocked on Thursday. We got massive applause. The Lahore premiere at the Super Cinema Vougue Theatre was equally successful.”
