The exciting BCL comes to an end with Ghaent Punjabis taking home the trophy

Box Cricket League winner Ghaent Punjabis
The last three weeks, media was abuzz with reports of popular TV stars coming together for their love of the game of cricket through the brilliant idea of the Box Cricket League (BCL). Organised by Marinating Films, the league took off with six teams coming together for a fun-filled event which was although all about serious cricket. The league started with teams Dilli Fukrey, Mumbai Mastram, Soorma Bhoopali, Jaipur Joshiley, Babu Moshaye and Ghaent Punjabis of which the last two teams emerged as the finalists and got to play each other in an exciting match last evening. And what a gripping match it turned out to be. Karan Mehra, the captain of Babu Moshaye won the toss and elected to bat. And after facing some tough bowling, his team managed to put a decent 147 runs on the scoreboard. And when Ghaent Punjabis took to the field, it was evident that it was going to be a tough match. And finally towards the end, with just 2 runs required off the last ball, everyone had declared the Punjabi team as the winner, but then came a twist. As the Punjabi batsman came for the winning run, the ball was thrown by a Moshaye fielder in time for the batsman to get run out. But sadly, there were no stumps. It so happened that some of the team members, in their excitement, had taken away the stumps, and that led to some confusion hungama on the field. After a point, a super over was called for to seal the fate of the match. And in this, the Punjabi team excelled and truly deserved to win by coming out with a great show. And then came in the celebrations that included some masti and a lot of dance. And since the winning side was Punjabis, how could the dhol and dhadaka be far way! The awarding ceremony saw Amit Verma from the winning team taking the Man of the Match award; his teammate and captain Barkha Bisht was awarded with the Woman of the Match award. Barkha also took home the Woman of the series award while Ssharad Malhotra from the Babu Moshaye team was honoured with the Man of the Series award. The finale was attended by members of other teams also who cheered and supported these two magnificent and competitive teams. Said Sunny Arora, owner of Marinating Films, “This has been a wonderful time when we managed to bring together a large number of TV actors together for a wonderful reason. We hope to make it a bigger season next time and I am really thankful to all the teams and their respective managements for their support.” On her part Barkha cheerfully added, “My team played superbly and this is why we could manage to emerge as the champion. Also our women worked really hard that too in a game that is played by men. And though competing with them was not cheese walk for us but we managed to do really well.” The tournament sponsored by Anmol Jewellers was surely a hit and we hope the next season will get grander and more exciting. The match was followed by a happening party. Stay tuned for the slideshow and video of the thrilling match only on Tellychakkar.com.
