Viruddh's changing track

Smriti Irani's Viruddh started on a bang but hasn't fared too well on the TRP charts. The show with a very good starcast is now daring to go the whole hog to rope in viewers. A quick dekho of the last episode had the daughter trying to kill her father. For the uninitiated, here's a recap. Dhirendra Rai Singhania (Vikram Gokhale) has just turned into a positive character because of certain incidents in his life. He now wants to live with his mentally challenged wife and Vasudha's mother Shalini. But destiny holds something else for him as the next moment he's shot dead by his younger daughter Shreya (Mihika Verma). Vasudha (played by Smriti Irani) promises her father that she'll protect Shreya and thus takes the blame on herself. We spoke to the producer Smriti Irani on the show's evolving track. "I'm elated that the show is slowly trying to live upto the expectation of viewers. I've always had a lot of conviction in the concept. Shreya's character will turn positive and Vasudha will replace her father's political regime," says Smriti Irani. So, will she continue playing Vasudha? She says, "Vasudha was the USP of the show and will remain the same." Shreya aka Mihika Verma has this to say, "I'm very fortunate to portray such a peppy character but now, it's high time to show case my acting abilities. Shreya's life is going to take a 380 degree turn. You have to just wait and watch." How do you relate to your character? "Shreya is a replica of Mihika. However, there's one difference, unlike Shreya, who's aggressive and immature, I'm calm and patient." Director Indraneil Mukherjee says, "The show is being appreciated by viewers and so we wanted to introduce new drama in the story. In the coming episodes, the story will revolve around the two sisters- Vedika and Vasudha. After this, it will focus on Siddartha's (Sanjeet Bedi) real identity." Do we expect more characters in Viruddh?He says, "The current track is going very strong. We're not going to ring in new characters."
