The roaring judges on Star Voice of India

Squabbling judges are a regular feature on most musical reality shows. However, this squabble is turning into a near war on Star Voice of India. The five member jury comprising of Abhijeet, Alka Yagnik, Aadesh Srivastav and Jatin-Lalit appear more focused in scoring brownie points over each other. In fact, we think the war has reduced the contestants to play just the mandatory role. 'You come and sing, we'll fight against each other to judge your performance. So, instead of focusing on finding the Voice of India, we just find roaring judges.

Currently, one man who's winning this battle is the highly volatile Aadesh Srivastava. Aadesh behaves like he's the patriarch of the Indian music industry. Not long ago, the music composer lost his cool, and mind too, when he lambasted his co-judge Abhijeet, who felt the need of giving a second chance to a contestant. A visibly shocked and bit petrified Abhijeet asked him to calm down. However, Aadesh refused to budge and even made a racist remark. Well, his tantrums have now become a regular feature. While there's animosity between Abhijeet and Aadesh, there's no love lost between the others. In the past, Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet have had their fun-filled battles, but the duo now seems to be at the receiving end of the three music directors. It's simply hard to digest that when Abhijeet grants nine marks to a contestant, Aadesh gives a paltry four. True that everyone has his/her opinion but such discrepancies only end up confusing the contestants who'll never know the true weight of his performance. It appears that they are no longer bothered about judging the contestants, but more interested in portraying themselves as the best in the panel. The end result is that - the charming host Shaan, who's always been a peace broker, now looks totally helpless. Every volatile reaction from the judges is meted by just one response " Hamare judges ki alag rai hai ( our judges have different opinions). Poor Shaan… even his 100 watt smile has no effect. One question which arises is have the producers of the show deliberately resorted to such means to rake in TRPs. But we think, the real losers are the participants on the show; afterall how can one give his/her best when the jury is waiting to spit fire on them. Clearly, an average contestant is bound to get intimidated by their presence. In such a volatile atmosphere, how can you find the true voice of India?
