I can handle rumours and controversies better than others - Preetika Rao

Preetika Rao
From the time this pretty young girl Preetika Rao started her TV career with Colors’ Beintehaa, she has been embroiled in the controversy pertaining to catfights. All started when the news of the damsel sharing a not-so-friendly relationship with her on-screen mother Reva Babbar came out. This was followed by Preeetika being declared as arrogant and insecure by her co-star Dimple Jhangiani in a national daily article. Well, Dimple cleared the air and said she was misquoted but we decided to speak to the lady concerned and get her views on all these spicy but not so affable news about her. Laughing at the topic Preetika avers, “All of this is really funny, but I was prepared for it. It’s all part of the game and I don’t let it affect my work or personal life at all. Sometimes things are made up or misconstrued and it can lead to disasters, but I have the sensibility to see the difference between them.” So there’s no truth to the talks that have been doing the rounds? “See for Dimple’s case when I read the story, I knew it was impossible for the night before, we were having dinner and chatting to glory. She is a very sweet girl and we are friends so I have no complaints on that matter. She also came up to me and talked about how her words were taken in the wrong sense and hence all is clear between us,” she informs. And what about her animosity with Reva? “I started my shoots with her and although we are not the best of friends she is a dear colleague to me. Also we play a close relationship of a mother-daughter and if we hated each other it would have shown on screen, but there is nothing like that. She is a very experienced actor and advises me often and with us shooting together again, things are pretty cool between us,” Preetika shares. She further adds, “You don’t necessarily have to be friends with everyone, right? And as for being close to someone on sets, it’s Suchitra (Pillai) who is my closest friend on the show. Since I shoot with Abdullah family mostly, we have really bonded well.” Since Preetika herself was a journalist before venturing into acting, did she ever write anything like this herself? “I was a gossip journalist, so you can understand what kind of stories I must have been writing (laughs). But I was a very ethical journalist and thus never used words that could hurt someone, for artists tend to take it on their heart. All said and done being on both sides of the job, I can handle such situations in a much better way than others,” she concludes. Well said Preetika!
