Father ka Phatka – TV celebs go down ‘whacky’ memory lane

Father ka Phatka
A very enlightened philosopher once said, “Rules are meant to be broken”. But the genius forgot to prescribe “A 100 ways to escape the consequences of it”! Well, as hilarious as it sounds, all of us have had our days starting off with long boring lectures of being irresponsible, while some of our pranksters were rewarded with phatkas and jhatkas. But as much as our fathers seem to carry an authoritative and correctional charade, none of us can deny that they are big softies at heart. And as much as they hurl, yell or hit us, they always do what is best for us. So this Father’s Day, Tellychakkar.com unfolds some amusing ‘Father ka Phatka’ moments with some of the mischievous celebs of television industry. The charming hunk Gautam Rode shares, “I clearly remember, it was my 1st year in college. I had just passed out of school and I took my Dad’s car out of station for a trip. I made a duplicate key for it. And as fate would have it, I banged my car and got involved in a minor accident. I did get a lot of pasting for it and was grounded for days. But eventually everything was sorted out. I apologized for my mistake and promised to not act irresponsible again (laughs).” “I was always scared of my Dad since a very young age and could hardly talk to him about anything. My mom was always the intermediary between us. I was very poor at studies and was a mischievous kid, so I always got phatkas and shouting. Even today when I need something, I find it difficult to interact with him. It is not fear but I guess it is out of respect. But with time, our rapport has changed. They are in Delhi and I am in Mumbai. So whenever I face any problem, I speak to him and he helps me out and gives me the best advice”, says the very humble and good-looking Sumit Vats. Mrunal Thakur who plays the bubbly Bulbul in Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya says, “I was always hyper during exams and used to get exam fever. I used to start pretending to be sick just for the fear of facing examination. And whenever my Dad tried convincing me about giving my exams, I always tried justifying my actions by emotionally blackmailing him and saying I would fail because he never gave me time or explained me things. He used to get really angry and yell at my foolish behavior. But ultimately he sat with me before every exam and explained me my entire portion overnight and it is only because of him that I could score well. I still thank him for that.” The very pretty ‘Kalpi, Rachana Parulkar says, “Believe it or not, my Dad never raised a hand at me. But yes there was this one time when I got into a fight with my elder brother Sanket and went a little overboard while arguing. He got really angry and was on the verge of slapping me. It would be an understatement if I say I didn’t cry much. I am really sensitive and end up in tears when my Dad even yells at me.” The dashing dude Neil Bhatt shares, “I was very stubborn as a child and was a couch potato when it came to watching my favorite cartoon on television. Once, it so happened that everyone was waiting to have lunch and I was stuck to the television set and my mom kept persuading me to wash my hands and I kept saying 5 more minutes. 15 minutes passed by but I didn’t move an inch. My dad got really angry and yelled at me for being so lazy. He dragged me all the way to the washroom and made me wash my hands. I was really angry then, but now it all just seems so funny.” Shivin Narang who has won the hearts of many as the calm and composed Ranvi on Star Plus show Veera says, “I was learning driving and I and my friends always had this tendency to experiment and flout rules. So we raced late in the night. When my father came to know about our doings, he was very angry and scolded me a lot. In addition to that, I was debarred from driving and of course racing. So not really phatkas lekin daant bohot padi thi! I am very happy that my Dad is coming to Mumbai this month to meet me and I have planned a surprise for him this Father’s Day (laughs).” Life wouldn’t be fun if we didn’t have awesome memories like these, which will continue to make us laugh for the rest of our lives. So hug your daddies tight and don’t forget to wish them a very happy Father’s Day!
