TV celebs and monsoon munchies
There is nothing like munching on spicy desi food while sipping over a cup of garam chai during the season of monsoon. And if you haven’t done so, it means that you haven’t enjoyed this monsoon to the fullest. However, eating healthy is the need of the hour especially in Mumbai. A few celebrities do know what to eat and which places to stop by for a quick chatpata snack. Giaa Maanek: It is better to have food that is cooked with love and care rather than unclean water. Therefore be it monsoons or any other season I’d always prefer having my so called ghar ka khana. But again during the rains one needs to have bhajias. I generally visit Taj Land Ends in Lonavala; I think that is a better option when it comes to eating tasty and healthy food. Roopal Tyagi: Eating pakodas during the rains has its own distinct taste which you may not get otherwise. You need to let go yourself and eat whatever you like, because you have just one life to live. The view from Westin restaurant is incredible during the rains. I can never stop going to that place, especially during the monsoons. Mihika Verma: My list of monsoon munchies are never ending but still if you’d ask me to name one it would be vada pavs with tikhi mirchi. It so happens that when monsoon arrives people tend to turn their lazy mode on. However if at all you end up eating fast food it’s better to jog or run on open beaches. I personally run on Juhu beach with my brother Mishkat Verma. Rohit Khurana: Indian chai has its own specialty and exceptional aura. Imagine having chai with bhajias, wouldn’t that be the perfect combination. One needs to see to it that whatever is consumed should be fresh and not stale. My philosophy is to eat well and stay healthy. Since it is also the season of Ramzan I would want to munch on something from Mohammad Ali Road. Neha Sargam: Well when it rains all I can think of is Maggie and nothing else. It’s easy and faster to prepare too. I also agree to the fact that one shouldn’t eat junk food during the rains. Karan Mehra: Back then when I was a kid I used to love eating chole bhature. And yes I think eating healthy food is always the first preference. I usually visit the Amar juice center which is located at Marine drive.” Monica Khanna: I am not a foodie and therefore I don’t eat much. I love eating bhuttas (corn) during rains. Other than that I think coffee along with pakodas is also not a bad idea. Last time I had the black dal most commonly known as kala channa in Mumbai. The fact that I am not health conscious is one of the advantages of eating anything and everything. I generally visit Amar Juice centre at Juhu beach and many other joints in Juhu itself. And lastly the cycle ki chai is one of the best. Nigaar Khan: I can proudly say that I am a road side eater and a hard core Mumbaikar. However, one should not make it a habit and there aren’t any specific places that I visit during the monsoon as Mumbai has become really filthy these days. I’d rather stay indoors and enjoy the overwhelming view from my window.
