End of a legend

He spawned the genre of the mythological on Indian television, and had an entire generation hooked to TV screens on Sunday mornings. A migrant from the world of movies, Dr Ramanand Sagar, Sagar Arts' patriarch who passed away on Monday night, will probably best be remembered for <em>Ramayan</em>, the 80s televised version of the Tulsi epic that Sagar retold for Indian audiences.

Sagars to get Lucky for Star Plus

sagar Arts, makers of <em>Hatim, Hotel Kingston</em> and the recent <em>Akkad Bakkad Bambey Bo</em>, are now making an adventure comedy serial for Star Plus aimed at kids, titled <em>Lucky</em> with Gautam Rode as the lead. The show is likely to be launched in mid-January 2006. "Lucky will be an action-adventure show with a host of characters in it. It will be an episodic comic book show on the lines of Tin Tin or Indiana Jones. So each episode will have its own identity and we will primarily be shooting in Baroda for the show,"says producer Shakti Sagar.

Exit Dollie....enter Akkad, Bakkad...

Star Plus will debut another daily fantasy series <em>Akkad Bakkad Bambey Bo</em> on 31 October. ABBB is a medley of ghostly adventures filled with some chilling moments - the series is about N P Yadhav, a simpleton from Bihar, who inherits a vada pav stall on wheels in Mumbai.
