Bengali film
Bengali filmmaker Milan Bhowmik is in the post-production stages of his film Nirbhaya based on the brutal gang rape and murder of a Delhi girl in December last year (2012) and its aftermath.
"I have consciously made the film after the Delhi brave heart who can be our sister, daughter or friend. There have been protests, rallies, sit-ins, but my question is: Do these protests really make any difference to the lives of hundreds and thousands of such girls out in the streets every day," Milan queries in a statement.

Zarina Wahab, who enthralled us in many films including Sawan Ko Ane Do, Chitchor, Gharaonda and Tumhare Liye among others, is all set to star in a Bengali film to be directed by Nehal Dutta.
The yet untitled film will talk about the still existing brothels in northern part of Kolkata. Said Wahab in a statement, "I play the malkin (owner) of such a 'kothi' and supervise the training part of the girls in it. It is a different role for me and Kolkata having a rich tradition of classical music encompassing all genres, I think it would have been the right place for such a movie."

Slow and steady seems to be Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee’s magic mantra to stardom. The sensitive actor who made a huge impact in Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani has been proceeding with his career slowly and with extreme caution. While picking through the Bollywood offers Parambarta even directed a Bengali film Hawa Badol on male bonding.

Having been partners in rhyme for almost a decade now, from Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi to Parineeta to Lage Raho Munnabhai to 3 Idiots, music director Shantanu Moitra and lyricist Swanand Kirkire have made a name for themselves as a force to reckon with.
And now they have teamed up in a Bengali film Paanch Adhyay. The film, incidentally, is not only Dia Mirza’s first Bengali film, it is also the first Bengali film that the pair of Shantanu and Swanand will team up for.

Here in Bollywood, Rakhi Sawant and Sambhavna Seth are firebrands in their own capacities. But when it comes to the Bengali film industry, the damsels are engaged in a new war of sorts.
Some time ago, Rakhi was in Kolkata to perform for an item number in an upcoming Bengali film, but as per latest reports, Sambhavna has also gone ahead and done a catchy number in a Bengali film titled Gundaraj.
If that was not enough, the makers of Sambhavna’s film are planning to beat Rakhi’s number by releasing their film before the other.
