Recently Channel [v] launched its new show <em> India’s Hottest</em> for which a special marathon was held on Sunday 18 November at Bandstand. It was headed by Brazilian super model and hot stepper VJ Bruna. Commenting on the launch of the show, Amar K Deb, Head Honcho Channel [v] exclaimed, “We apologize for adding to the already existing Global Warming threat but since we are looking for<em> India’s Hottest,</em> it is an effect we can’t really control. With Bruna making things hotter we hope we don’t receive any complaints from Mr. Rajendra Pachauri.”

<em>The Great Indian Laughter Challenge</em> will come back in a new avatar early next year and this time Perizaad (or whoever hosts the show next) will not be the only glam quotient of the show. The makers are trying to woo female stand up commediennes! "It's a challenge to get women contestants! Women are stuck in a world of dignity, they can't disgrace themselves by stooping so low so as to make faces or gestures to make others laugh!" laughs <em>TGILC</em> director Pankaj Saraswat.

Head honchos unveil the Channel [V] calendar in style!

"Men with weak hearts better not be around!" Well, that was the cautionary advice that the compere gave to his audience last night at the party to celebrate the launch of their 2006 calendar. Surprisingly, the party was attended by the who's who of Star -- Peter Mukerjea, Amar Deb and Sameer Nair, all of whom took turns to unveil the Channel [V] VJs in their sizzling new avatar.

Reality tv goes a step further!

Reality television is all set to enter the digital age! Channel [V] has launched <em>Mobile Singer</em>, a first-of-its-kind interactive hunt on the wireless platform. The show will be judged by disco king Bappi Lahiri and auditions will start from 7 October. "I am sure its going to get a humungous response. We have ghataoed (reduced) the struggle of reality show aspirants. They can just call up a given number and sing a Bappi number," says Channel V head honcho, Amar Deb.

Bollywood again looks to tellydom for publicity!

The latest film to seek the help of television to promote itself is the Saif-Preity starrer, Salaam Namaste, and this time its on Channel V's <em>Freedom Express</em>. Channel [v] VJs Archana, Juhi & Tina travelled the length & breadth of the country with one mission - to find out what the common man especially the youth think of freedom in the 21st century. This episode will be aired on 15 August. Lending their support to this special initiative were stars Saif Ali Khan & Preity Zinta, the star cast of <em>Salaam Namaste</em>, to salute the spirit of freedom.

Channel [V] gets radical

Pepsi [V] TV Champions, Channel [V]'s latest reality offering goes on air on Wednesday, June 29. The tagline calls it "raw, real and radical", and the show will have no rules, no scripts and no jury. So what's the show about? Participants will be given 60 seconds to do whatever they like. That's right, they can do whatever they like - sing, dance, act, talk or just stare at the screen. The final 14 participants have been selected after auditions of 300 selected by online voting.
