Comedy Circus 2

<em>Comedy Circus – Chinchpokli to China</em> is garnering attention of celebrities from all walks of life. Be it cricketers, soap opera stars or Bollywood entities. After Suresh Menon, it’s now the turn of Bollywood star Abhay Deol to perform on this Sony show. Abhay will be performing along with Comedy Circus 2 winner VIP (Vijay Ishwarlal Pawar). A source informs, “Abhay Deol and VIP will be doing a comic act on <em>Comedy Circus</em>... This is for a segment on the show named as ‘Hasti Hasti’. The episode will air on 17 January.”

Last year’s loser VIP (Vijay Ishwarlal Pawar) has made amends by winning<em> Comedy Circus 2</em>. VIP and his season 2 partner Juhi Parmar beat the pair of Kamya Punjabi and Rajiv Thakur in the grand finale which was shot day before yesterday. Our source from the sets says, “VIP and Juhi have won <em> Comedy Circus 2</em>. Apparently, Kamya and Rajiv weren’t quite up to the mark and that tilted the scales in favour of Juhi and VIP, who once again stuck to his forte i.e mimicry.”

If sources are to be believed, then few stand-up comedians on Sony’s <em> Comedy Circus 2</em> are having a tough time dealing with their female partners. While the Sayantani Ghosh-Kuldeep Dubey spat spilled out in the open, news has it that there are other unhappy pairs too.

June 25 was the date when the sets of <em> Comedy Circus 2</em> had more than their share of laughter and joy. It was judge Satish Shah’s birthday and the contestants and the production house decided to throw a small party for him on the sets. “That day we were shooting for two episodes. As soon as the first episode got over we all gathered on the sets and gave Satishji a surprise birthday party and a small gift from the production house,” a source from the production house reveals.

There’s something really ‘wild’ about Juhi Parmar. Last year, she was supposed to enter as the wild card and the eleventh contestant mid-way through <em> Nach Baliye 3</em> but had to back out after other contestants took offence to this largesse. In 2008, Juhi accepted this largesse from Sony’s <em> Comedy Circus 2</em> but was eliminated on the first day itself.

He dodged the bullet thrice but couldn’t escape the fourth time. Baddie Akashdeep Sehgal and his Pakistani partner Pervez Siddiqui have finally been eliminated from Sony’s <em> Comedy Circus 2</em>.

Of late, she’s been part of comedy shows but that experience hasn’t proved of much help to Sucheta Khanna-Pawase after she and her Pakistani partner became the first pair to be eliminated from Sony’s<em> Comedy Circus 2</em>. A source from the sets informs, “Sucheta and Salim Afridi lost out to Akashdeep and Pervez Siddiqui. It was surprising to see Sucheta go out as Akashdeep and Pervez had another poor showing. Maybe, the other competitors considered Sucheta a bigger threat and that’s why they voted her out.”

It looks that television’s bad boys and girls are switching to comedy for an image changeover. Apart from Kamya Punjabi, it’s now bad guy Akashdeep Sehgal who will be seen in the second season of <em> Comedy Circus.</em> Giving them company is veteran actress Apara Mehta. Apart from them there is Sayantani Ghosh (the <em> Ichadhari Naaginn</em>), the youngest member of the Indian hockey team in <em> Chak De India,</em> Komal Chautala (Chitrashi Rawat) and poet Shailesh Lodha.

The success of <em> Comedy Circus</em> has proved that actors can indeed do stand-up comedy. Inspired by the likes of Swapnil Joshi, Ali Asgar, Urvashi Dholakia, the cr?me de la cr?me of television actors will be fighting it out in the second season.
