Veteran hasya kavi Surendra Sharma (remember the good old days of Doordarshan when he would regale viewers with his dead pan sense of humour) is all set to infuse some fun and energy into <em><a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/upasana-plays-maid-mrs-mr-sharma-allahabadwale>Mr and Mrs Sharma Allahabadwale</a></em> in tonight’s episode.

After 25 years <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/mind-it-new-tv-show-deals-mental-health>Doordarshan</a> re-launches Hum Log, but not re-telecasting it, but in a new avatar titled ‘Hum’. The format and treatment will bear resemblance to that of the original <em><a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/hum-log-hum-ladkiyan>Hum Log</a></em>, along with the tail piece discussions made by Sushma Seth.

‘Mann Ki Baat’, a series focusing on issues related to the mind and mental health of individuals and the society at large, is to be telecast on <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/mini-mathur-host-sports-quiz>Doordarshan</a> twice a week starting July 21, every Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

After her hosting stint with Sony’s <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/will-sony-come-iss-jungle2>Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao</a>, <a href= http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/mini-mathur/mini-mathur-host-sony-s-next-reality-show>Mini Mathur</a> will now host a Sports Quiz. The show is titled ‘<em>Sports ke Superstar</em>’ and will be aired on Doordarshan. It is being produced by Siddhartha Basu’s Synergy Productions. “The show is a precursor to the Commonwealth Games and is to be shot in Delhi,” says Anita Basu of Synergy Productions.

The success of <em> saas-bahu </em> shows like <em> Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi</em> and <em>Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii</em> has inspired a lot many people to make shows on the same concept. The latest to join the bandwagon is Doordarshan’s national network. The channel is going to air a new show named <em>“Kabhi Saas Kabhi Bahu.</em>” The title may suggest that the show is a heavy mix of tragedy, pathos, self-sacrifice and trauma but the show is actually a situational comedy. The show will have stalwarts like Sushmita Mukherjee and Shama Deshpande.

Vijayendra Ghatge and Soni Razdan, television veterans, will soon enter the <em>Kohinoor</em> storyline. Ghatge, who's been part of landmark serials like <em>Buniyaad</em> on Doordarshan in the past, will play Yaadvendra, a rich industrialist with a shady past. An influential person, it's rumoured that one of the reasons for his fast growth is his ability to convince people in the government to form policies that suit him and his business. He has muscle power and is an art collector by nature.

India’s very own super hero <em>Shaktiman</em> is about to take flight on the POGO Network starting Monday 6 June, 2005. It will be a one hour daily aired at 6:00 pm. "It is about time", says Mukesh Khanna, the Show’s producer and the lead actor. Mukesh has donned the garb of <em>Shaktiman</em> for over 300 episodes for seven years and it was aired on DD National.

Doordarshan will soon be launching a bi-weekly soap <em>Raaz.. ki ek baatt</em>. The serial that launches 6 March, boasts of veteran actors Gufi Paintal, Ravi Kishan, Sushil Parshar, Smita Hai, Dinesh Kaushik, Jaya Bhattacharya, Vaishali Saini and Indira Krishnan. The plot revolves around Jaya Bhattacharya, the second daughter-in-law of the family who cannot conceive owing to her husband's impotency. This serial will see Jaya playing a strong negative character. Is she born to play negative roles? "No, I want to play positive roles as well. But I am not offered any," she laughs.
