Colors issues media statement pertaining to controversy over the title of its new show, Gurbani; opts for name change

Colors has sent across a media statement on controversy over the title of its new show, Gurbani. We are producing it as it is… Colors, India’s leading General Entertainment Channel (Channel) has said it has taken note of the recent news reports and the concerns voiced by various Sikh organizations such as Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) Amritsar, Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib over the title of its upcoming fiction show <em>Gurbani</em> slated to go on air today (18 March 2013) at 10.30 pm. <strong>Below is the official statement from Colors: </strong>

Meet Gurbani and Rajji, the lead protagonists of Colors' Gurbani

Colors’ upcoming show <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/colors-next-gurbani-inspired-true-stories>Gurbani</a> (Mystic Productions and Colosceum Productions) is all set to launch from 18 March 2013. The female leads in the show are completely new to the industry. Shefali Sharma who essays the title role of Gurbani is from Amritsar. The other girl Neha Bagga who plays Gurbani’s cousin sister Rajji is based out of Chandigarh.

Colors' next Gurbani inspired by true stories

It was earlier reported that Color’s next <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/colors-next-gets-its-title-gurbani>Gurbani</a> (Mystic Entertainment and Colosseum Media) will be replacing Colors’ <em>Parichay</em> (Balaji Telefilms) on 18 March 2013. However, the latest we hear is that the serial is inspired by true stories. The screenplay starts in a small village of Punjab where Rano dressed as a bride waits at the Station… runs after the train which is supposed to bring back her husband… she impatiently scans through every face which alights at the station … but to no avail!

Rishi Khurana part of both Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan and Gurbani

Sooraj Thapar roped in for a pivotal role in Colors' upcoming show, Gurbani

Sooraj Thapar who was last seen in SAB TV’s Bhai Bhaiyya Aur Brother, returns to the small screen with yet another challenging role in Colors’ upcoming show, titled Gurbani. The show which will focus on the plight of women who get deserted by their NRI grooms (social malaise prevalent in regions of Punjab) will replace Parichhay at the 10.30 PM slot from mid-March. The show is being jointly produced by Damini Shetty’s Mystic Productions and Colosceum Productions.

Tellychakkar.com had exclusively reported about Adhwik Mahajan (who starred in Ram Gopal Verma’s movie Contract) bagging the lead role in Colors’ upcoming show to be produced by Writer turned Producer Damini Shetty’s Mystic Productions and Colosceum Productions. New face Shefali will be playing the female lead.
