Gurinder Chaddha

Gurinder Chaddha has finished the script work on the musical Westend stage version of her most well-known film <em>Bend It Like Beckham</em>. She’s naturally kicked about going back to her roots with her beloved film.

Bend it Like Beckham director Gurinder Chaddha ran with the Olympic torch on Saturday (23 June) in the small English town of Blackpool, where decades ago she had shot her first feature film <em>Bhaji On The Beach</em>. Says Gurinder, “It was a complete and utter exhilarating experience. I am honoured and blessed to have been selected as one of only a few thousand out of all of Britain’s 56 million population to run with the Olympic flame. I shall treasure my torch and display it in my house next to my OBE.”

Now that Gurinder Chaddha’s twins have turned five and are going to school, and she has lost close to 25 kgs of weight, she is all set to storm into filmmaking again. Yes, the lovely lady will be back with a secret project that she has been working on even while changing nappies and feeding the babies. A call from Gurinder on Monday afternoon from her home in London ,and out spilt all the details on the great partition film that she begins filming this October (2012) in Delhi and Jodhpur.
