While we all know that late <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/movie-chakkar/dara-singh-breathes-his-last>Dara Singh</a> acted, produced and directed Hindi films, little did we know that the wrestler-turned-film personality gave television viewers a glimpse of himself in shows like <em>Had Kar Di</em> and <em>Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka</em> in which he played dada<em>ji</em>’s (grandfather’s) roles.

Navneet Nishan to play grandmom

One of Indian television's first faces Navneet Nishan, who rose to fame with the show Tara, is making a comeback to t he small screen. She returns with Maverick production's weekly comedy show Gupshup Coffee Shop on SAB TV from 6 th December. For the first time she'll be playing a grandmom's role. Elaborating on her character she says, "I'm playing the role of a grandmother (Mrs.Parmilla Dhariwal). Sudhir Pandey plays my husband. She's not your typical television granny. She's very naughty and a spendthrift. She always derives means to achieve the ends."

Sanjeeda on a sabbatical !

At a time when most daily soaps go on for years at end, Star One's <em> Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka </em> has folded up in nine months flat. The lead protagonist, Sanjeeda, is happy that Nimmo had a smooth run without any formulaic time leaps or plot dragging ploys which most dailies try in order to sustain viewer interest.

The hot news about the cool dude Sanjit Bedi is that the actor is all set to do a special appearance in the serial<em> Kumkum</em>. Item numbers on TV shows have become a rage. And cashing in on the popularity of this trend is Moonmoon aka Sampada of<em> Kasauti Zindagi Kay.</em> This sultry and sensuous actor has graced a special episode of Star One's<em> Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka</em> for an item song,<em> ban than chali.</em> And giving her company were the industry's two popular hunks, Naman Shaw and Amit Tandon (wow, a treat for the eyes, must say!). Sounding upbeat about this novel experience, Moonmoon says, "I had a wonderful time shooting for this song. We all had a blast dancing on this rustic number."

Dolly Thakore debuts in Hindi soap

She's no stranger to Indian television, but veteran theatre artiste Dolly Thakore will now be seen dislaying her histrionic skills in the new Balaji soap <em>Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka</em> to launch on Star One next week. Dolly, a well known English newsreader on Mumbai newsreader in the 1970s, will play the conniving Dadi in Balaji Telefilms's new soap <em>Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa<em>. She will sport the same larger than life, glamorous persona that she sports in real life too. Clearly the outsider in the world of telly soaps, Dolly is nevertheless excited about her character.
