BAG films goes international with Pakistani actors

After bringing about a variety of shows on television BAG films is all set to start shooting for a new show titled<em> Yeh Vaada Raha</em> for the overseas viewers. The love story will be aired from early next year on ARY DIGITAL channel, Dubai. Yeh Vaada will be revolving around two lovers Sadia (an NGO activist) played by Pakistani actor Maria Vasti and Salman (son of a leading politician) played by Raj Verma who are torn apart by hatred. Also the hatred shared by their fathers has kept the two families separate for many years.

Debojit does a cameo in Kasamh Se

<em>Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005</em> winner has put on his acting shoes! He will soon be seen playing himself in Zee's <em>Kasamh Se</em>. This is not the first time that reality show winners have tried their hand at acting - Prajakta Shukre has done a laudable job in Sony's <em>Rihhaee</em> and Abhjeet Sawant too did a cameo in <em>CID</em>. But the one reality show contestant who has made it big is Amit Tandon, who starred in Ekta Kapoor's <em>Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai</em>.

Home grown English soap returns after a decade!

This one's big! After <em>A Mouthful of Sky, Bombay Talking</em> will be the second English language soap to be produced in India. The show, based on the lives of Page 3 socialites will air on Zee Cafe by the first week of November. Produced by UTV, this is one venture that seems to be an attempt to tap the English speaking urban upwardly mobile junta, who are avid viewers of the channel.

Sony pulls the plug on Rihhaee

After weeks of dithering, Sony has finally decided to wind up its woman-centric bi-weekly <em>Rihhaee</em>. The show should be off air by mid-September, say sources.

'Rihhaee' helpline gets 100 calls in three hours

In a move that could be called trendsetting, BAG films launched a helpline on Wednesday and within three hours received as many as 100 calls. "What can I say? It is a step forward for Indian television. I am very happy that all the hardwork is paying off," says MD, BAG, Anurradha Prasad. It is an achievement of sorts to have received this kind of a response within just three hours of the number being flashed on air. Our sources tell us that the helpline has also received calls for financial aid from top industrialists and lawyers who want to be part of a noble cause.

'Rihhaee' to take on major promotional activities soon

<em>Rihhaee</em>, the show that has been described by its makers as a 'socially aware high drama,' is soon going all out to promote the show in a big way. Although BAG and Sony are tightlipped about the details, our sources tell us that the channel is keen to invest in the show. Rubbishing all media reports of <em>Rihaee</em> going off-air, BAG managing director, Anurradha Prasad says, "I have no clue about these rumours. I am in Dubai, and I got to know this from you. I don't know how to react to things like these."

Sea change in 'Rihhaee'from next week

Sony's <em>Rihhaee</em> will not be the same anymore. The serial that made its presence felt through gritty content, tight performances and sleek presentation, will now change its format to suit the needs of the channel. "There is no pressure from the channel, but it's a working understanding between us. Television is a dynamic medium, and one has to keep changing and be open to suggestions in order to sustain oneself," acknowledges BAG films MD Anurradha Prasad.
