Rakhi Sawant may have been the runaway bride in her swayamvar, but Star Plus’ Perfect Bride lived up to its promise as it happily got Rumpa Roy and Hitesh Chauhan married in a televised event. While Rumpa is a Bengali settled in Gurgaon, Hitesh is a Punjabi from Chandigarh. TellyChakkar spoke to the pretty bride on what made her say ‘I do’. Excerpts from an interview: <strong>Congratulations! What made you participate in a show hunting for a groom?</strong>

"I am quitting Saara Akaash" Sonal Sehgal, aka Sanjana is out of Miditech's <em>Saara Akash</em>. Sonal, who's currently seen on Kasauti Zindagi Kay, on Star Plus, is also gearing up to do a crossover film. Read on, for a candid chat with Vickey Lalwani. You haven't got typecast, yet you've done a fine job in '<em>Saara Akaash</em>'. That's not easy on Indian television.

With media mogul Rupert Murdoch's Star group acquiring a 21 per cent stake in Balaji Telefilms Limited for Rs 1.23 billion, the production house, sometimes called Ekta Kapoor's soap factory is on a high. But what does the stake imply? Is there more than meets the eye? TV's prima donna talks to Vickey Lalwani. <strong>What was your reaction when the deal came through?</strong> I thought that I'd wake up feeling different that day. But I woke up from the same side of the bed, felt very normal for a long time. I wasn't feeling special, but then... (pauses) <strong>But then?</strong>

"<em>Lipstick</em> is ending....we didn't want to bring in 20 year leaps for the heck of it"- Shrishti Arya <strong>'Lipstick' started with a bold theme, but later petered out to become standard family drama fare. Didn't the original track work?</strong> The beauty of television is that you get instant feedback. Based on the feedback, we made the changes. We are in a consumer-oriented business where we want our software to be sold. We didn't make drastic changes, though. It was just a matter of what we highlighted and what was relegated. We didn't bring any new characters.

<strong>Are you quitting Star Plus' <em>Kahiin To Hoga</em>?</strong> No way. It's just a rumour. When one is successful, people want to talk about him in whatever way they can. The show is very successful and will complete one year in September. People love the character of Sujal Garewal, so there is no question of me quitting it. <strong>When will your contract with Balaji Telefilms end? Will you renew it?</strong> There is no binding contract. But I am going to continue working in the show.
