Narayani makes her Hindi film debut

Narayani Shastri has moved on. She’s married Rahul Agarwal. Ok, ok,before you queue up to congratulate her, let’s tell you, they have hitched up for a film! Called <em>Na Ghar Ke Na Ghat Ke</em>, the film also stars Om Puri, Ravi Kissen and Paresh Rawal. A situational comedy, it is about Devakinandan Tripathi (Agarwal) who comes to Mumbai and his experiences in the city.<a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/gossip/narayanis-mystery-man-unveiled>Narayani</a> plays the character of Mikilesh Kumar Dubey. Tripathi works in Mumbai’s weather department.

Balaji and Star at loggerheads

Following reports of Star’s top show <em> Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi </em> to be axed, the fall-out between the channel and the production house is evident. Reports suggest that Star TV has sent a notice to Balaji asking them to terminate <em> Kyunki </em> by November 10, which is before the expiry of the contract. This comes as a blow to both Balaji and the viewers as it was only recently that Balaji’s other flagship show <em> Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii</em> went off-air on 9 October.

Star launches Marathi channel Pravah

After launching a Bengali entertainment channel named Star Jolsha, Star India is all set to launch yet another regional channel which will cater to its Marathi viewers. The channel is titled Star<em> Pravah </em> and is slated to take off in mid November. Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, working President Shiv Sena Uddhav Thakeray and director Ashutosh Gowariker were present at a special event today at the Nitin Desai Studio in Karjat . The channel will face straight competition from channels like Zee Marathi, Mi Marathi, Saam Marathi.

Star unveils Bengali Entertainment Channel

Star India Pvt Ltd has come up with their first regional General Entertainment Channel (GEC) in Bengali – Star Jolsha. Commenting on the launch, Uday Shankar, Chief Executive Officer, Star India Pvt Ltd said, “With Star Jolsha, we plan to create a revolution in the Bengali entertainment, similar to what we have been able to achieve with our other leading brands. Viewers can look forward to a standard of Bengali entertainment that’s on par with the finest in the country, bar none.”

Star and track to go for a toss in Annu Ki…

<em> Annu Ki Ho Gayee Wah Bhai Wah</em> on Star One will once again make some twists and turns in their show due to some alleged practical difficulties. The buzz is that Amir Dalvi’s character is to be winded up along with the <em> dhaba</em> track. This is due to the persistent illness of the cast and crew members who have been shooting in Film City in this unfriendly climate. It is now heard that in order to change the set, the creative team is changing the story.

Star's Heartbeat begins 1 May

The viewers of Star One are in for a treat. Come 1 May, they are set to watch a quiz show of a different kind! <em>Heartbeat</em>, produced by Sidhartha Basu's Synergy Communications will air Monday - Thursday at 9:30 pm. There were speculations in the media that the desi version would be called Heart Attack, but it seems that the makers have decided to stick to the original title. The introduction of the new show will see a fair amount of changes in the current lineup of the channel.
