Star beats Zee and Colors in the rating race

Looks like viewers have warmed up to Star Plus’ new avtar and is in sync with the channel’s ‘Rishta Wahi, Soch Nayi’ tagline. Post the revamp the channel has managed as much as 443 GRPs in its kitty. The channel has 61% more points that its closest competitor Colors. Colors recorded 276 GRPs followed by Zee with 231 points.

After leaving Maayka Zee abandons Betiyann…

After <a href=’http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/maayka/zee-tv-leave-maayka’>Maayka</a>, Creative Eye’s second show on Zee TV <em>Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann</em> too is tipped to end on 13 August whereas <em>Maayka</em> may end on 14 Aug.

Zee disowns its Parrivaar

After being upstaged by Colors for the second spot, Zee is now keen on reclaiming its place back. The competition in TV industry is intense and thus there’s no room for any weak link. Miditech’s daily <em> Parrivaar – Kartavya ki pariskaha </em> couldn’t generate the desired results and thus it’s been pulled off air. Confirming the news, a source from the production says, “Yes,<em> Parrivaar </em> will wind up by November 14. Despite getting an extension, we weren’t able to get required TRPs. Besides, new shows are waiting in the wings and thus some one had to make way.”

Zee shuffles weekend slot; Hadsaa axed

Zee TV has decided to reshuffle its weekend prime time shows.<em> Zindagi Badal Sakta Hai Hadsaa</em>, co- produced by Karan Oberoi’s Artistic Media and Fireworks productions, has been pulled off air from this week. Confirming the news, Programming Head Ajay Bhalwankar says, “<em> Hadsaa</em> will be pulled off air for certain strategic reasons.” But isn’t this due to low TRPs? Ajay replies, “TRPs could be part of the strategic reason.”

Dulhann to stay put on Zee

<em> Dulhann </em> fans went into a tizzy after it was reported that the show could be going off air. However, they can now breathe a sigh of relief as nothing of this sort will take place. However, there’s no denying that the show is currently going through a turbulent phase. At the centre of the problem is the leading pair of Sharad Malhotra and Divyanka Tripathy. Reportedly, the duo has been throwing a fist on the sets. While there’s uncertainly over their future, the show will go on.

Maa to bless Zee

In keeping with the general mood of revamping the afternoon slots across most channels Zee TV is also coming up with a brand new show for its afternoon audience. According to our sources the show titled<em> Maa </em> which is on the lines of the Rekha-Kabir Bedi starrer <em> Khoon Bhari Maang</em> will air in the channel’s afternoon slot.

Smriti’s Waaris on Zee

After making a grand comeback after almost one year on <em> Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi</em> , actress turned producer Smriti Irani is all set to produce a show for Zee titled <em> Waaris</em>. The show reportedly will start airing from 16 June at 11:00 pm. It will have the likes of Iqbal Khan , Yuvraj Malhotra, Rucha Gujrati and Aashka Goradia. Yuvraj Malhotra, one of the leads of the show, says, “Rucha and Aashka have been penned down to play the lead actresses in the show. Rucha will be opposite me while Aashka will play love interest to Iqbal.”

Smriti to produce a comedy show?

The buzz has it that Smriti Irani??€â„?s production house Ugraya will soon be launching a comedy show to be aired on Zee. If reports are to be believed then the venue of the shoot will be Sankraman Studio in Goregaon (E). The production house and the channel are in the process of finalizing the cast and naming the serial. When contacted Smriti said, ??€?“I speak about my upcoming shows only when the time is right. All that I can say now is that I am producing five shows out of which one is for Zee and some for Sahara.??€Â?

Rakshanda to play Roshni Chopra in Kasamh Se

Zee's <em>Kasamh Se</em> has given enough reasons to the audience to stay glued to the series, no matter what! Now it gives another reason - Rakshanda Khan enters the track of the soap as Roshni Chopra. If that name gives you a sense of deja vu, fret not - Roshni's the very same who plays Pia on the same show. "Her character is that of Jai Walia's ex-flame prior to Sonali. Jigyasa was the one who broke their marriage plans, as according to her, she was not up to the mark," confirms Sandiip Sikcand, creative head of the show.
