Concept of Mad In India could have been better: Sunil Grover

Sunil Grover
Yesterday, we reported about talented actor Tarun Khanna visiting the Tellychakkar.com office as the Guest Editor recently. As Tarun settled in the job of a journalist, he decided to call up his ‘Punjabi’ buddy Sunil Grover for a tete-a-tete. Sunil, the popular and talented actor was more than happy to oblige with his friend for the interview. Talking in Punjabi, the duo cracked jokes and chatted for quite long. Here we bring you an excerpt from the fun conversation. Sunil, tell us why do you think there has been a rise in comedy shows in India recently? Apart from people wanting to laugh and have fun, I think shows like this were never there. Laughter Challenge opened up the market for comedy shows and I think it was long due for comedy actors; there are more opportunities for the actors now. Also earlier only sitcoms like Dekh Bhai Dekh and Yeh hai Zindagi were there to entertain viewers. Having been part of live acts and shows, what do you enjoy more? I like doing live shows for they are very challenging as there are no retakes. I think it’s also a lot more fun when you get the reactions instantly. What do you think did not work for Mad in India? The experience has been really good; I just wish the concept could have been better. The format was not basically about one person, but I gave my 100 percent to it. But nevertheless it had been an enriching experience with the show. Fans want to know whether you will be returning to Comedy Nights with Kapil? No comments. And what about Kapil, are you in touch with him? Of course, we are regularly in touch with each other. What is the most interesting thing that you have done in your career so far? I think being a part of a silent comedy show; Gutur Gu was not only challenging but also very interesting. So what are you currently working on? We have completed our shoots for Mad in India recently, so let’s see how things shape up in TV next. What about your big screen outing? Well, I am doing a film called Gabbar with Akshay Kumar where I have a pivotal role. We are shooting for it and it’s absolutely fun being with the team. And finally what are your future plans as of now? I am still pondering over that (smiles).
