Bihari babu Sushil Kumar has created history on Indian television by winning Rs 5-crore jackpot on Amitabh Bachchan-hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati season 5. A true rags-to-riches story, this 27 year old psychology graduate currently works as computer operator and tutor in Bihar which fetches him Rs 6000 per month. The studious and inquisitive Sushil is currently busy preparing for his IAS exams and in an interview with Tellychakkar he shares his experience in the show, his emotions after winning, future plans and more. Excerpts: Sushil Kumar, first of all hearty congratulations! Dhanyavad (laughs). I don’t know what more to say. How are you feeling after winning Rs 5 crore? Bahut accha mehsus ho raha hain. I am overwhelmed by the amount of love and appreciation I have received after winning Rs 5 crore. Everyone is coming up to me and congratulating. The feeling is amazing actually. I cannot really express in words. Your family members might be really happy? Not only my family members, but my entire village is happy about it. I hail from Motihari, Bihar. I have become some kind of a star now. They are waiting for my return. I am sure there will be a grand celebration. How do you feel with so much media attention? Very good. Suddenly I am all over the place. Everyone is calling me up for an interview. Thanks to KBC that I am getting the opportunity to interact with so many people. I am really lucky I guess. Did you always want to participate in KBC? Yes. Right from the first season I wanted to be in the show. But I was preparing for it. I followed the show closely and tried to understand the game better. I did try in the last season but finally managed to get through this season. Did you believe that you could win the jackpot amount? No. I knew with the help of lifelines I could win till Rs 50 lakh. But I never thought I would hit the jackpot. But as I was playing the game I gained in confidence, calmed my nerves and answered the jackpot question. What was going through your mind when the Rs 5 crore question appeared on the screen? I was calm. I knew either I will attempt or quit. When the last question appeared I had two lifelines left. So with the help of them and my knowledge I finally answered it correctly. Did Amitabh Bachchan make you feel comfortable? Absolutely. He is such a good-natured man. He is such a big personality but doesn’t have any starry airs. He made me feel comfortable and kept encouraging me. It was because of his enthusiasm, support, and love that I managed to win the show. Any tips on how to hit the jackpot? Well, just read newspapers and magazines on a regular basis. You must keep yourself updated with the developments around. Furthermore, before coming to the show just revise whatever you have studied in school and college. Sab wahi se ata hainHow will you utilize the money? First, I will go back home and build a home. Then I will give money to my brothers to set up business. Furthermore, it has been my desire to open up an educational institute for needy children in my village. Now that I have the money I will make it happen. After all this, I will go to Delhi to prepare for my IAS exams. My ultimate dream is to become an IAS officer (smiles).
