Kylian Mbappe beats Lionel Messi to World Cup 2022 Golden Boot as Martinez lands Golden Glove

MUMBAI: As fans have been eagerly anticipating to find out who will take the Golden boot for themselves after the FIFA World Cup 2022 finals that happened yesterday, many people’s hopes were fulfilled with Kylian Mbappe taking the title home. The France footballer made a thrilling hat-trick against Argentina which made his total tournament goal count eight, beating his fellow PSG teammate Lionel Messi who scored a total of seven goals in the Qatar hosted World Cup.

The Golden Boot is the only consolation for a dejected Mbappe as France lost during the penalties against Argentina. The electrifying game finished with a 3-3 equaliser, but after extra time and penalties, La Albiceleste won the match with shootout scores of 4-2.

Mbappe is currently the second player to score a hat-trick in the World Cup final, the first being Geoff Hurst, while playing for England against Germany in 1966.

The Golden Glove, which dictates the best goalkeeper of the tournament, was bagged by none other than Argentina's Emiliano Martinez. We saw his amazing performance at the final which helped him win this title. The Aston Villa keeper kept three clean sheets in their seven appearances at the Qatar World Cup 2022 and saved three penalties during the shootouts, including one in the final.

Mbappe will return to his club Paris Saint-Germain FC (PSG) after the World Cup, where he will reunite with Messi.
