MUMBAI: Television favourite Abhinav Shukla, who enjoys a massive fan following, is currently captivating audiences in the reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga, alongside his wife, actress Rubina Dilaik.
Recently, the actor took to social media to share a candid account of his contrasting experiences with two major names in the film industry—YRF’s casting director Shanoo Sharma and acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Abhinav revealed that his meeting with Shanoo Sharma was far from encouraging, as she dismissed his acting abilities while merely complimenting his looks.
In sharp contrast, he recalled a far more positive interaction with Bhansali, during his audition for the filmmaker’s shelved project Inshallah.

“I was sitting face to face with Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir for his next Inshallah. I remember SLB was all praise, all appreciative, and asked me several times, ‘How come you haven’t worked so much? I saw the audition—you are super talented,’” Abhinav shared. “The movie got shelved; my destiny took a turn!” he added.
In the same post, Abhinav expressed solidarity with Mirzapur actress Isha Talwar, who recently spoke out about a “strange” casting experience with Shanoo Sharma.
Isha revealed she was once asked to cry in the middle of a restaurant during an audition, a request she found unsettling and refused, admitting the incident had momentarily dented her confidence.
Responding to her story, Abhinav wrote, “Isha, I can relate, and I think insults are an opportunity to meet the people who value your talent and time!”
Despite facing rejections and setbacks, both Abhinav and Isha have carved successful paths for themselves, proving that perseverance and self-belief can outshine early discouragements.
