MUMBAI: Tanya Mittal is an entrepreneur and spiritual content creator who rose to national prominence as a contestant on Bigg Boss 19.
Known for her outspoken nature and claims of a luxurious lifestyle, such as travelling to Dubai purely for dessert or requiring extensive personal security, Tanya quickly became one of the most talked-about and polarising personalities of the series.
Following her exit as a Top 5 finalist from the popular reality series Bigg Boss 19, Tanya Mittal has spoken out against the constant accusations of being 'fake' or 'pretentious' that dogged her throughout her time in the house.
In a recent interview, Tanya strongly defended her decisions and lifestyle, arguing that the intense scrutiny she faced stemmed from outdated expectations placed upon women who achieve success.
Tanya explained that she has always been straightforward about her background and the manner in which she chooses to live. "I’ve always been straightforward about who I am," she stated.
"I come from a family where I’ve grown up with certain habits and comforts, and I don’t see why that should be questioned."
The reality star directly addressed the root of the controversy: her personal spending.
"If I choose to spend on myself or maintain a particular lifestyle, it’s because I can. I work for it," she insisted. "That doesn't make me pretentious. If she can take care of her needs and desires, what is the issue with that?"
Tanya suggested that the disbelief she encountered, particularly concerning things like having personal bodyguards, was inherently gender-biased.
She noted that such privileges are typically expected of men or established celebrities, but when an independent woman maintains that level of security and comfort, "it becomes a topic of debate."
She concluded her statement by owning her personality wholeheartedly, acknowledging that her strong individuality might be overwhelming for some.
"I know I can be too much for some people, but I have always lived on my own terms. I don’t believe in fitting into expectations just to appear acceptable."
Tanya Mittal’s tenure on Bigg Boss 19, despite the controversies, has firmly established her public profile, even paving the way for a potential acting debut after receiving an offer from producer Ekta Kapoor.
