MUMBAI: Anupamaa has been the most adored show on the television right now with TRPs nothing less than 4 on weekly basis. Its gripping storyline and mind-blasting twists keep the audience glued to their screens. Fans and viewers have connected to Anupamaa so deeply that they couldn't afford to miss even a single episode of the show.

We rang the charmer and asked him few questions about the show and more, here's what Anuj Kapadia aka Gaurav Khanna had to say:
How do you manage to bring balance to your work and personal life?
As an actor, it’s not always very easy to bring balance to your work and professional life, sorry, work and personal life because daily soap actors generally tend to work for 14-15 hours a day. You have a 12-13-hour shift, and then you have around 2-3 hours of travel to and fro, to locations and sets and the traffics are so, the traffic nowadays is really, too much so generally we end up working 14-15 hours a day, if not more, this is the bare minimum, I am saying. So making, finding a balance between your work and your personal life is not easy but I have been very lucky because I have always surfaced when I am working, apart from that when I go back into my shell, into my family cocoon and I am really happy there. And then again when I pick up a show, I surface and I am seen and people see my work. So I am not a very social guy, per se. So I like staying indoors, I like staying with my family. I like the family time which I have with my folks, with my wife, with my sister, with my cousins. And you know I love home-cooked food and that’s how I am and I think that helps me to balance the reality of fact and fiction, if I can put it that way that we live two lives, one is reel, and the other is real life. So yeah you have to switch on and off, and I am lucky that I can do that.
Do you get time to watch your shows on TV?
Well, I don't get to watch all my shows regularly, now when I am shooting because I generally I don’t get time because I also have to come home and rest and sleep so that I can go back again on the set and deliver my performances and you know to be honest with my craft. But yes whenever there is an off, or there is a between shows I do try to catch up my performances of certain scenes which I feel or which I remember that I should watch. I try to catch it on the online portals and every channel has its online app nowadays, so it's become easier, earlier in the date it used to be tough because we never used to get the episodes anywhere. But now I think whenever I am free I do catch up with my performances and you know I think a person can be his or her own biggest critic, so I always try to see that you know if I don't like a certain nuance in my performance I try not to repeat it or if I like certain things, I try to use it in different ways you know in my next performances. So yeah, thanks to all the online parts of the channels, you know, it’s being helpful, earlier we never used to find the shows easily for the past episodes, but now they are all up there and you can just click you can get any episode. So yeah life has been easier now.
What is the one thing you want to do once the country is completely back to normal?
One thing which I would want to do when the country is back to normal is, like most people, they would like to travel and generally, that's the best thing people say and they want to do, but the first thing which I would want to do when the lockdowns are lifted fully in the country is I would like to know, you know how should I put - I am I believe in the almighty and I believe that everything happens because of his whims, like whatever the destiny has been written is being written by him; so I would like to go to the temples and shrines which I believe in and I would like to thank the Almighty and I would like to say that it so that he or she gives us more power and more strength to overcome these obstacles in life because that’s what life is all about right. So overcoming obstacles and I would just like to go to these temples and shrines and just take all the blessings that could, I am and then you'll see what we do from there.
Any message you want to give to your fans or Star Plus viewers?
A very sincere message I would like to give to my fans and the Star Plus viewers is I am really looking forward to all the love and support when you watch my new character, Anuj Kapadia, on the show Anupamaa because this character is somewhat very similar and has some similarities, very uncanny similarities with me as an individual so somewhere down the line I feel that Anuj will definitely strike a chord in your heart and you will be in love with like the character eventually because the character is like that, at least as much as I have heard the story from the creatives, that you know every person would want an individual like Anuj in their lives, that is what I just want to say right now without feeling; spilling the beans here if I may put. But yes every person would want somebody like Anuj in their life. And fingers crossed, I am working hard so that I give an honest performance and I am open to your suggestions because you are the guys because of whom I am here, and you are my biggest strength.
