Gagan Malik, who was last seen in Star Plus’ Navya, has just returned from a three month long schedule in Srilanka where he shot for the movie Siddharth-The Buddha. Produced by Navin Gooneratne, the movie will show the journey of Gautam Buddha from his age of eighteen to his thirty sixth year, i.e. till the time he attained enlightenment. Noted Director Chandram Ratnam has directed the movie.
Gagan Malik essays the central role of Gautam Buddha while Aanchal Singh plays the character of Yashodara in the movie. Gautam Gulati, who is seen in Diya aur Baati Hum, is also a part of the project and will enact a negative avatar.
We hear that special permissions were taken from the President of Srilanka to shoot this particular movie. Auditions for the role of Buddha were conducted in India, since they needed an Indian to play the role. Amongst 300 plus auditioned candidates, Gagan Malik got the final nod. The movie has been shot in Sinhaleese language, and will soon be dubbed in Tamil as well.
When contacted, Gagan Malik told Tellychakkar.com, “I returned a week back from Srilanka. The experience was great, and we were there at Srilanka for more than three months to shoot the film. The film is presently at the editing stage.”
Way to go, Gagan!!
