Gurucharan returns as Sodhi; Laad Singh moves out of SAB TV's Taarak Mehta

Gurucharan Singh and Laad Singh
In the world of showbiz, equations change in no time. Friends turn enemies and vice versa overnight, but in SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms), it took more than a year. This SAB TV show is taken as one big family but then families too have issues. Now which issue are we referring to here? A year ago Gurucharan Singh, best known as Sodhi, moved out of the serial over differences with producer Asit Modi. Back then, things had gone sour between the two, after which Laad Singh Maan was roped in to replace the Sardar. But they (Asit Modi and Gurucharan) seem to have closed that chapter for the latest information from the sets come that Gurucharan is making a comeback as Sodhi. And with this Laad will exit the show. When and how did this change happen? For a while now, Gurucharan has been eyeing a come-back to the show while Laad wanted to move out because of reasons best known to him. With these things happening at the same time, the production seemed sorted with Sodhi’s character. “Yes, I am making a comeback on Taarak. In fact, I shot for the promos yesterday only and will begin shooting tomorrow,” confirmed Gurucharan. So have they settled the creative differences? “I feel the present is important and not the past. Asit is like my elder brother, we met over dinner and laughed and talked a few days back about all that transpired a year back,”Gurcharan averred. Didn’t you want to stay away from the show? “I never said that I’d never get back to Taarak; I always wanted to be a part of it. There were issues but now we are all in joyful mood and would like it to be this way only.” And your entry will mark the exit of Laad Singh Maan. So what’s your take on that? “Yes, he is a wonderful human and we had met at a Gurudwara when he had just begun shooting. But I feel he couldn’t do justice to the character, although I will always pray for his well being,” observed the artiste. On his part, the producer too confirmed the entry and said, “Past does not matter; what matters is a better future. Gurucharan wanted to get back to the show and Laad wanted to move out because of certain reasons, all positive though. So we let him go.” If one may remember Jennifer Mistry too had moved out of the show soon after Gurucharan’s exit as she was expecting her first child. So will Gurucharan’s comeback mark her return too? “We haven’t thought of it yet. In fact we are happy with the current Roshan (Dil khush) plus Jennifer has a young child to look after. We do not know how many hours she will be able to give on the sets with a child back home,” observed Modi. Gurucharan too remained clueless about Jennifer’s comeback, “She has a six month old baby girl and is very happy in her zone. So, I can’t really comment on any of this,” he said. Don’t miss Gurucharan’s dhamkedar entry in Taarak soon. We could not reach Laad to know about his take on all these developments. Keep reading Tellychakkar.com for more updates on the same.
