There are times when I do think that fate has a role to play in everyone's life. Certain things which you never expect happen, and those which you are absolutely sure of do not. Recently, in my life there was a nice and pleasant surprise, which I never expected would happen. I am talking about getting a break in the forthcoming movie Dev D. It was a complete surprise when I got an offer to act in this Anurag Kashyap film.

I was actually taking a break after a hectic year with Saathi Re and got to know that UTV SpotBoy (the producers) was looking for a fresh face for an Anurag Kashyap film. I went for the audition pretty casually and stopped thinking about it after I was out of the studio. Within a week, I got a call from UTV informing me that I was selected for the role of a character called Rashika. The role was that of a very sensuous modern city girl. In fact, when Anurag narrated the role to me, he said, 'You are the spice of the film!" Little did I know what the 'spice' would have to encounter while shooting for the film.
The first schedule of my shooting involved a lovemaking scene with Abhay Deol (the male protagonist of the film). As it is I was nervous about the whole thing and what made matters worse was the location. We had to shoot the love scene inside a chicken farm! One can very well imagine the stench and the filth inside a chicken farm and love is the last thing that comes to one's mind in such an ambience. All you want to do is to hold your breath, come out of the place and take a shower. And I was expected to act all lovey dovey inside the farm!
If that was not worse enough, I had hundreds of crew members and huge arclights staring at me for the shot. I just did not know what to do and how to act. But Anurag being such a good and realistic director explained the entire sequence to me very well and kudos to Abhay for executing it so professionally with me. I was very comfortable during the shot. But I would definitely not like to repeat this experience.
