MUMBAI: Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is all set to return to the TV screens with an all new story. Most of the prominent actors will be retained in the show. Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay will be seen playing Tulsi and Mihir Virani. The promo of the show is already out and people can't wait for the show to hit the television screens.
One of the actresses who rose to immense fame with her stint in the first installment of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is Jaya Bhattacharya who essayed the character of Payal in the show. In a recent interview, Jaya revealed that there was a massive pay disparity during the first installment of the show.
In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Jaya said, "I was the most underpaid actress. Mujhe kabhi raise hi nahi mila. Saath saal mey ek baar mila tha, maangne pe, jaha sabko 2 hazar mile they raise, mujhe ek hazar mila tha, mere ego pe lagg gaya bhaisaab. Matlab ek toh mujhe maangna padh raha hai or kya mai itni imporatant character nai hu kii jitna auron ko mila utna mil sake? Toh mai mangugi hi nahi aur maine nahi maanga..."
("I was the most underpaid actress. I never got a raise. In seven years, I received it just once—and only because I asked for it. While everyone else got a ₹2000 hike, I was given ₹1000. That really hurt my ego. I mean, not only did I have to ask for it, but was my character not important enough to deserve the same raise as the others? After that, I decided I wouldn’t ask again—and I never did.")
Talking about others getting pay raise every year, Jaya added, "Baaki toh pata nahi kaha kaha pohch gaye they (Rest of the actors got impressive pay raise).
