Squabbling parents on Chota Packet..

Warring partners are part of every reality show but when it comes to the children, it’s the parents who do all the lip service. Such a scene was witnessed in Zee TV’s Chota Packet Bada Dhamaka when a war of words broke between the mothers of partners Smita Nandi and Dheirya Sorecha. The bone of contention here was the not-so-impressive performance of Dheriya Sorecha, who was labelled as a ‘poor performer’ by none other than his partner Smita Nandi’s mother. While the judges weren’t particularly harsh, Mrs.Nandi’s comments saw both Dheirya and his mom weeping.

Defending her son, Payal Sorecha says, “What hurt me was that while the judges weren’t harsh, Mita openly blamed my son for affecting Smita’s chances. What I want to point out that unlike Smita, my child is not bunking school. His exams are on and so he can’t afford to give much time.” The judges too took offence to Mita Nandi’s remark. Lending her support to Dheirya, Rakhi Sawant said, “I am very upset with Smita’s mother. She should not have commented on someone else’s performance. There is an age difference between the two one needs to keep a cognizance of.” Kunal Kolhi too stated that no one had the right to comment on Dheirya’s performance. Adding further, Payal Sorecha said, “He was given a slow number ‘Chand Taare’ from the film Yes Boss. Thus there wasn’t much scope for dancing. Besides, his steps were changed at the eleventh hour thereby giving him any time to rehearse. One mustn’t forget that my child is an actor and not a trained dancer. This is a competition and only one will win so parents shouldn’t take it so seriously.” Despite the tiff, isn’t it essential for Dheirya and Smita to function as a pair? However, so far there has been so truce. “Neither me nor my son have spoken to Smita and her mother after this episode. In fact, Smita herself has been complaining that Dheirya doesn’t devote much time for rehearsals.” We called up Mita Nandi to get her side of the story but she’d switched off her cell phone.
