Sushant Singh Rajput's JDJ choreographer Shampa goes solo

Choreographer Shampa with Sushant Singh Rajput
What is common between Imagine’s Nachle Ve, Zee TV’s Dance India Dance and Sony Entertainment’s Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa? Apart from being dance shows, something else is common link to them. Tellychakkar.com gives you a minute to find it out…..Ok, times up. This common link we are referring to is Shampa Sonthalia. Confused? That’s because Shampa, famous as Sushant Singh Rajput’s choreographer in JDJ, is known by her first name. In DID, Shampa assisted her mentor Terence Lewis, but she never came on screen. But in Nachle Ve 2 she was seen helping Terence teach the celebrity contestants dance steps on screen. And after that she was seen shaking her leg with Sushant in the Sony Entertainment show. If you think Tellychakkar.com helped you to get your facts right, then you are not alone. In fact, Shampa herself was unaware of this connection. “I didn’t realize this. But, I think it is a great achievement in itself,” smiles Shampa. For information, Shampa is the daughter of well-known choreographer the late Gopi Krishna. She has been associated with Terence Lewis for eight years, but she recently started working independently. And for the people who loved Shampa’s choreography in JDJ, Tellychakkar.com brings some good news. “I have choreographed a contemporary dance sequence for the Thespo 13 at the Prithvi theatre,” reveals Shampa. This dance will be performed in the Prithvi Theatre tonight, 15 December 2011 at 8 pm. The Thespo society is currently celebrating 13 years and Shampa’s dance will be a part of the annual youth theatre festival. “The dance sequence has been titled ‘A.T.T.A.C.H.E.D’. As the name suggests, the dance shows how a human gets attached to various things in life, and in the end how he detaches himself successfully,” she adds. Sounds interesting. Ask her what she is attached to in life, and she gives the obvious answer: “I am attached to my dance; I think it is my calling. I know all this sounds clichéd, but it is a fact that dance drives me on.” Sadly, she will not be performing as the Thespo society includes actors and performers only under the age of 25; and Shampa passed that age just a few years back. “I do wish I could perform, but I am content with choreographing the dance,” signs off Shampa.
