Who helped Meiyang Chang get his debut film?

Indian Idol 3 finalist Meiyang Chang will be seen as Shahid Kapoor’s buddy in Yash Raj’s yet untitled flick. Chang has hit a jackpot with the big ticket film as his launch vehicle. The film also stars Anushka Sharma and Vir Das and is directed by Parmeet Sethi who makes his debut as a director. But how is it that the singer bagged the pivotal role? The grapevine has it that Chang’s girlfriend Monali Thakur helped him bag this pivotal role in the movie. Chang has been dating Monali Thakur who rose to fame with Indian Idol 2 for quite some time now. Monali has sung many film songs but has been acclaimed for Zara Zara Touch Me in Race which was composed by Pritam Chakraborty. Since then both Pritam and Monali share a great rapport and it is believed that Pritam played a pivotal role in helping Chang bag the role. Pritam has composed the music for the movie. We tried calling Chang to know more but he is currently away in Bangkok shooting for the movie. We could hence not reach him. When we asked Pritam about his role in Chang’s professional life he said, “This is just not true. I did not even know anything about it. It was much later that I heard that Chang is a part of the film. In Yash Raj Films everything is confidential”. He adds, “Monali has never told me about Chang leave aside asking for any help”. Well we may never unearth who helped Chang, the important thing is that the dentist turned singer is now an actor.
