MUMBAI: The excitement ahead of Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming crime thriller Paatal Lok, produced by Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Films, seems to be going up a notch with every passing day. If the teaser hasn’t already sent chills down your spine, the streaming platform, added to the buzz, by posting a couple of motion posters on its three leading characters. With audiences getting a glimpse of Hathi Ram Singh, Sanjeev Mehra and Hathoda Tyagi one gets to see the shades of the good, the bad, and the ugly from this talented trio. Having already taken us into the dark alleys of humanity, the trailer, all set to release tomorrow, is sure to be nerve-wracking. 

They’ve got out curiosity and interest in a matter of minutes. So who exactly are these three residents from the dark and dangerous hell of Paatal Lok. Will there be only one winner in this game of life and death taking place in this terrifying world? And if yes, who? We give you the perfect lowdown by letting you know what is it exactly that makes each one of them stand out. 

Hathi Ram Chaudhary: 

Played by the extremely talented Jaideep Alhawat, Hathi Ram Chaudhary is a Delhi cop in search of a miracle and redemption at the very earliest. Desperate to prove his worth, not just to the world, but to himself, Hathi Ram has his back to the wall on every occasion. On landing a high-profile case that could probably change his life, he realizes that this could very well be his golden ticket to success and thus starts his journey towards finding out the truth. Having held our attention in every frame of the teaser, Hathi Ram is a cop who we’re certainly rooting for. 

Vishal Tyagi aka  Hathoda Tyagi: 

There are bad guys, very bad guys and then there’s Hathoda Tyagi. He’s the man who unleashes hell on the land of Chitrakoot in the show. Played by the highly underrated Abhishek Banerjee, this could very well be the role that sees the actor come to the fore and steal the show. One look at him, his rage and sheer brutality in the teaser, tells you exactly why his nickname is Hathoda Tyagi. The living embodiment of a devil, if there ever was one, no one in their right senses wants to get on the wrong side of Hathoda Tyagi. 

Sanjeev Mehra: 

Here’s a layered character in the show who gives you the feeling that it’s the hidden traits of his personality that we must be beware of. Neeraj Kabi plays the role of Sanjeev, a well-established prime time journalist who seems to be pulling the strings when it comes to taking matters into his own hands. Displaying shades of grey, this wily old fox will see you question the thin line that exists between right and wrong when it comes to life-changing decisions that make all the difference. 

This highly-anticipated Amazon Prime Video series is created by Sudip Sharma, known for movies like Udta Punjab and NH10. The series also marks the debut of Anushka Sharma’s production house - Clean Slate Films, in the OTT space. It’s set to be a terrific Tuesday for those eagerly awaiting the show as the official trailer for the series drops tomorrow, May 5th, 2020 at 11:34 am while the launch of this gripping crime thriller is scheduled on 15th May, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
