MUMBAI: Amazon Prime Video recently dropped the trailer of its upcoming movie Shakuntala Devi starring the vibrant and gorgeous Vidya Balan along with the extremely talented Bengali superstar - Jisshu Sengupta! Inspired by the life of India’s Math genius and human calculator - Shakuntala Devi, the movie also features Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh in lead roles.
While Vidya Balan is known to deliver incredible performances, the trailer of the movie is beyond anything anyone could anticipate! It is fun, cute and feisty and is a guaranteed wholesome entertainment dhamaka. The movie will not only give us glimpses of Shakuntala Devi’s journey from being a child prodigy to gaining global recognition as the ‘human computer’ but will also give a sneak peek into her personal life including her relationship with her husband Paritosh Banerji played by the Bengali superstar Jisshu Sengupta.

Breakthrough in Television
Not a lot of people know but Jisshu’s is the actor’s daaknaam (nickname) that just stuck by - his real name is actually Biswaroop Sengupta! Growing up, the dashing Bengali actor never wanted to become an actor. In fact, before he got into acting he worked as an advertiser! If you want to call it Destiny you may, but he only agreed to play his first role in television series Mahaprabhu because it was an off-season for cricket, and he had nothing else to do that summer. Ever since, there was no looking back for him. His journey on television continued even after he became a star. He continued judging and hosting various shows and even produced and acted in his own show called Aparajito that aired in Star Jalsha.

An overnight star
Jisshu’s television debut with mythological series Mahaprabhu saw him essay the character of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The role proved to be a huge breakthrough for this budding actor and it overnight led him to stardom. It took him no time to become a household name in Bengal owing to his boyish charm, cuteness overloaded simplicity and impeccable acting skills.
A sportsman’s first
Before making one of the most successful debuts in Bengali cinema, Jisshu wanted to become a cricketer. In fact, he has been quoted several times stating that if given a chance he would become a cricketer rather than an actor. In his youth, he even represented Bengal across state-level sub-junior league matches. He still pursues his passion for cricket as the captain of the Bengal Tigers team, representing Cinema of West Bengal in the Celebrity Cricket League and Bengal Cricket League which was also his brainchild. Being an avid sportsperson, he has also participated in Kolkata marathon and charity football matches
A perfect Family man
In an industry filled with heartbreaks and infidelity, Jisshu Sengupta has stayed married to actress Nilanjanna for 14 long years! The couple is blessed with two beautiful daughters as well! They are one of the cutest power-couple of the Bengali film industry and keep showering their fans with cutesy lovey-dovey PDA moments.
Breakthrough in Bollywood
Like any other actor, Jisshu also dreamt of making it big in Bollywood after giving back to back hits in Tollywood. He made his debut in Bollywood in 2005 with 'Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero'. He made a comeback again through his cameo in box office hits like Barfi, Mardaani, and Piku. He recently played a major role in Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and it seems that Bollywood has taken a keen interest in this dashing actor as he has some exciting projects to look forward to.
Apart from Shakuntala Devi, Jisshu is also playing the character of Alia Bhatt’s dad in Sadak 2 and the character of Shobhan Babu in Thalaivi.
