The show revolves around three 20-something roommates on the autism spectrum, striving for the things like all other adults such as a job, friends, relationships, etc. The show will feature actors Rick Glassman, Sue Ann Pien, and Albert Rutecki, who each identify as living on the autism spectrum. The show will also feature Sosie Bacon from the show 13 Reasons Why, Chris Pang from Marco Polo, and Joe Mantegna from Criminal Minds.
Interestingly, the director, Katims, has a son who was diagnosed with autism which served as the inspiration behind the show. However, the show has originally been adapted from the Israeli series On the Spectrum. The director’s previous show Parenthood featured a young character named Max which was played by Max Burkholder, who lived with Asperger syndrome. Even in this The Pure Genius TV show, the lead character played by Augustus Pew exhibited autistic characteristics.
