Moana

MUMBAI: Walt Disney Animation Studios is set to take audiences back to the enchanting world of Motunui in Moana 2. Makers of the highly anticipated sequel have unveiled an exciting new trailer, offering an even deeper look into the thrilling adventures that await Moana and Maui. Picking up where the first film left off, Moana returns home from a three-day journey, only to discover a mysterious object that holds the key to an ancient island with "angry gods." This newfound discovery sets the stage for a perilous quest as Moana embarks on a mission to break the curse and reconnect with her people. Joining her on this epic adventure is the ever-reliable Maui, who once again teams up with Moana to face an unknown threat.

The newly released trailer introduces Matangi (voiced by Awhimai Fraser), an enigmatic character who could pose a significant danger to the duo in the upcoming sequel. With the fate of Motunui hanging in the balance, Moana must navigate treacherous waters and confront formidable challenges to protect her beloved homeland. As Moana matures into a capable leader, she faces new responsibilities and complexities. Her relationship with her younger sister, Simea, deepens, adding a heartwarming dimension to the story. Meanwhile, the dynamic between Moana and her parents, Chief Tui and Chieftess Sina, evolves as the family unites to face the unknown.

Moana 2 promises to deliver a captivating blend of adventure, humor, and heartwarming storytelling. With its stunning animation, memorable characters, and infectious soundtrack, the sequel reunites Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, “Moana 2” features music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana 2 premieres in theatres in India from November 29, 2024.
