MUMBAI: ZEE5 always comes up with the content-driven series and movies, and this time, the platform has given us something that will leave a smile on your face. Written and directed by director duo Devanshu Kumar and Satyanshu Singh, Chintu Ka Birthday stars Vinay Pathak, Tillotama Shome, Seema Bhargava, and master Vedant.
The story begins somewhere in Iraq. A family tries to buy happiness every day because they are living in an area where they only see the events of war between the Iraqis and Americans. On a daily basis, they have to listen to the gun-firing, bomb blasts, and other war sounds.
It is very difficult for the family to lead a normal happy life. Amidst this here comes Chintu’s birthday. His father Madan Tiwari, played by Vinay Pathak, mother Sudha Tiwari, played by Tillotama Shome, and his sister try to fight everything in their way to make sure the birthday celebration of their son happens without any problem.
But destiny has designed something else for them, and the situation around them suddenly changes. They find themselves in big trouble and think that the celebration will be ruined this time too. The only thing they are asking for is being able to make their son cut cake.
Well, for the rest of the events that transpire, watch the 81-minute movie.

The screenplay is really gripping. It holds your attention from the very first scene till the last scene, and the situation happening inside the house and the war situation outside is unique and interesting.
The direction is good, and the sequences are shot very nicely. The audience is able to connect to the emotions that the family is going through.
The background music plays an important role in any movie. Here, it is really amazing and gives you the feel of war. In some scenes, there is only music, which makes the scene more interesting.
Positives of the movie are the unique concept, strong acting delivered by each character, relatable story, and its feel-good factor.
Negatives are that a few scenes are a little long, but it really does not matter because the strong screenplay and good storytelling never allows you to lose attention.
Talking about the performances, Vinaay Pathak shines in this story as the father who is trying anything and everything to make his son’s birthday a happy one. At the same time Tillotama Shome delivers amazing role as the mother. Master Vedant Chibber as Chintu has done a decent job, and Seema Bhargava as Nani is also good. Nate Scholz, Reginald L. Barnes, and Khaled Masso have delivered realistic performances in the movie.
Overall, the movie delivers a sweet message of love and humanity across the globe and it deserves your time. It is a must watch during this lockdown.
