MUMBAI:Eijaz Khan is one of the most popular TV actors. He has been a part of many shows on television, and now, he is making a mark on OTT as well. The actor will next be seen in City of Dreams season 3.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Eijaz and spoke to him about City of Dreams 3, his opinion on OTT censorship and more...
Not many OTT series have reached season 3. So, when you started working on season 1 of City of Dreams, did you anticipate that there will be a season 3?
Mujhe toh laalach diya gaya tha teen seasons ka (laughs). But, good that it happened.
We are living in a situation where even a tweet can get us into controversies. So, when City of Dreams was offered to you was there a hesitation before signing it that what if it gets into controversies?
Keeping the political aspect aside of the show, for Wasim Khan and for me, I was scared that I was saying so many curse words so that it wouldn't become a controversy. This was the initial phase of the OTT shows. Ours was maybe the second or third show that was going to come. I think people are okay with it, and if there’s no requirement of a curse word or something else then it should not be there. Everyone is smart enough to avoid the unnecessary controversy.
There has always been a debate about censorship on OTT. So, what’s your take on it?
I think there are rules and regulations in place, and if they are working don’t mess with it. I don’t think there’s any need for any more censorship.
City of Dreams season 3 is slated to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 26th May 2023.
