MUMBAI: So often than not it happens that an actor's personal life creates more news waves than their work does and something similar happened with 'Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki ' actor Nisha Rawal who became the center of controversial news, her estrangement from 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlat Hai' actor Karan Mehra when she accused him of domestic abuse and adultery.
Things had seemed down and troublesome for her a little while, but Nisha rose from her spiral and started working harder and better than ever. She was last seen in a pivotal role in Zee TV's 'Meet -Badlegi Duniya Ki' until she quit the show to be a part of what she believes is going to be a game-changer in the OTT landscape and reality shows.
Ekta Kapoor's magnum effort 'Lock Up ' hosted by the queen of controversies and news herself Kangana Ranaut. 'Lock up' is a reality show, where 17 contestants will be locked up and will have to play the game and fight for bail in order to survive on the show.
TellyChakkar Exclusively Spoke to Nisha Rawal about her strategy on the show, friends and families reactions, and rumors of Ex-Husband Karan Mehra being a possible contestant on the show:
The show is quite controversial in nature, what was your family or friends' reaction to it? Did they give you any advice?
N.R - I only got advice from a couple of people and honestly after the whole ordeal last year, I have consciously filtered out people from my life and I have taken sole control of my life and the decisions related to it. I feel like everything that has happened has made me a stronger, more confident person and I am more than capable of making my own choices and taking decisions that impact my life and my dear ones.
There has been speculation that your Ex-husband Karan Mehra might also be a contestant on the show. What would be your reaction if that does happen?
N.R - My reason for going on the show is very simple, it is to entertain the people, play the game, do every task with my 100% capability, and most importantly to win the show. And I am not scared, to be honest, to face anything, and if my Ex-husband is a part of the show, I will face him with no inhibitions and my focus is going to be on the show and not him because that is who I am.
This show has no road map because this is the first season, what is the strategy going into it or are you mentally prepared for it?
N.R - I know that there is no set example for the show but I think this show is going to redefine what OTT is to our audiences and bring more audiences to the OTT platform. This show is also helmed and created by mega minds of the entertainment world, Ekta Kapoor, Endemol, and MX player, also this show is hosted by a fearless woman who I respect a lot, so I think we are in good hands and as for my strategy I am very clear about what I want to do and that is Entertainment. And I am not really uncomfortable about sharing things from and about my personal life, because most things have under the public eye, I just want to focus on being myself and giving my best to the show.
Nisha Rawal was the first confirmed contestant of the show and many names have been floating around as potential participants for the show, including Poonam Pandey, Ishaan Seghal, Miesha Iyer, Pratik Sehjapal, and Shehnaaz Gill.
'Lock Up' starts streaming on Alt Balaji and MX player from 27th February and is the best of Kangana Ranaut on an OTT platform.
