MUMBAI : Rithvik Dhanjani is one of the most popular actors on the small screen. 

The talented actor became a household name for his role Arjun Kirloskar in Zee TV's show Pavitra Rishta. 

The actor was paired opposite Asha Negi in the show and their on-screen jodi became a huge hit among the fans.  He is also popularly known for his role in Star One's show Pyaar Ki Yeh Ek Kahaani.

Popular TV actor Rithvik Dhanjani will be seen hosting 'Datebaazi', an online dating show. Created by Frames, the series is set to premiere on December 1 exclusively on Amazon Mini TV for free.

The dating show will see parents taking over their kid's dating applications and making rational decisions. Joining Rithvik, will be celeb guests like Shilpa Shetty, Bharti Singh, and Uorfi Javed.

TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about his new gig as a host, dating shows, and more.

From the title of the show itself, the audiences are intrigued and want to know, what can we expect from the show?

What you can expect is madness, bizarre connections, and culture shock in extreme amounts. This show is a blast and its a bomb. Every episode is just blasting. It was so much fun to watch this whole thing unfold, because it the first time that the dating culture, parents are getting involved. The Gen Z audience believe that the power is in their hands, the way they swipe left and right to be with their choice of person. But in this show, that power is given to the parents to arrange dates for their children. It’s a bizarre idea and there were culture-shock moments where parents are left agape and thinking what was happening around them. 

What would your reaction be, had your parents been a part of this show and what would you do?

No, no, that would be a point of no return, no way. I could never have my parents on Datebaazi, because my mother would get me married to all the eight prospects. She will get me married eight times. She will take a thaal and her gold jewellery and just go and give it to them. So, no way that can happen.

In today’s generation where so much of dating depends on right and left swipes, what is your definition of love, are you old school romantic ?

Absolutely old school, I am not the right-left swipe kind of person at all, I can’t do it, I have never done it, never been on a dating app and I don’t think I can be on them as well. 

What are the top thing on your checklist , when you are looking for a partner or interested in someone? 

The first would be communication, the second would be, being who they truly are, and not putting up a mask or a filter in real life, not looking for validation and the most important thing, she should be able to give a lot of love and kindness to my parents and to everyone around. She should be kind, and be able to give my parents the amount of love that I give them because I know for a fact that I will give my partners parent’s the actual and equal amount of love that I give my parents. So, I do expect that out of partner, that’s one of the most key points.
