MUMBAI: After the success of Maharani season 1 which hit the small screen last year, the makers are once again set to be back with the series' season 2.
Maharani season 1 had Huma Qureshi, Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Harish Khanna, Pankaj Jhaa among others were seen playing pivotal roles.
As the show gears up to hit the digital platform Sony Liv with the second season, TellyChakkar got in touch with Pankaj Jhaa who is also a part of this season.
Pankaj plays the role of Diwakar Jhaa in the series and spoke in length about his role in the show and much more.
How excited are you for this season?
I am very excited about this show. Whenever the first season of any series becomes a hit, there are high expectations from season 2. There are a lot of expectations from Maharani season 2. Not just the producers but even the responsibility of an actor increases with the new season. People have loved my character of Diwakar Jhaa. I got a lot of recognition and they praised me.
Tell us something about your character in this season.
I had an extensive role to play in the first season but I have comparatively lesser screen time in this season. However, the screen time doesn't matter as long as my scenes are impactful. There are several great scenes here. I don't know if the makers will come up with season 3 but if they do, I am hoping Diwakar Jhaa's character will be there and have more screen time.
How challenging was it to portray Diwakar Jhaa?
The series is shot in the same format as the first season. The character is also the same. The director has changed and Ravindra Bharti is helming the show. He gave us a warm welcome. It was great shooting for this season. When a character grows and becomes established and when my screen time is reduced, I was a bit surprised. Then I came to know that a lot of things are dependent on the channel and the platform. But I truly enjoyed shooting.
