These days she is grabbing the headlines for her role in the upcoming series Delhi Crime Season 2 where she essays the role of Neeti.

TellyChakkar got in touch with the actress and asked her how she bagged the role in Delhi Crime and whether she was nervous to step into Season 2.

How did you bag the role in the series of Delhi Crime?

It’s a very interesting story; I had known the director of the show Richie Mehta and I had known him briefly as he had made a movie named “Siddarth” and I had worked on a movie titled “Qissa” and both the movies were travelling to festivals and that’s when I got to interact and know him.

Then I again met him while I was shooting for the series Made In Heaven Season 1 where I had a cameo role and I was shooting in Delhi and once again I met Richie there as he came to do the reiki of the place and that time we got on to talking and he mentioned to me about my character Neeti from Delhi Crime and he thought why he never thought about me in the first place to play the character.

Then I did a video test and bagged the role and it’s a pleasure to be on a project like Delhi Crime.

Were you nervous about shooting for Season 2 considering that Season 1 was so successful and it had won an Emmy award?

No, I wasn’t nervous for myself but for the writers, if they have done a good job or not because it’s not easy to write for the subsequent season because in Season 1 without thinking they write and are establishing the characters, whereas in Season 2 the characters have to go to another level and it’s a challenge and a very difficult job.

But for an actor, it’s a delight to play a character in a subsequent season as we already know the character and we need to only enhance it and play with it a little more. I wasn’t nervous but was excited to begin the new journey in Season 2.

Could you tell us something about your character Neeti in Delhi Crime Season 2?

In season 1 if you remember Neeti was a complete fresher from the academy and she was given such a tough case to be solved and she was only trying and understanding how the police force works. But now in Season 2 she has grown as a person and has been promoted to being an ACP of the police force.

Now she is very comfortable around her job and she understands the system. What I connected with the character and the show is the balance that Neeti has between her personal and professional life. That balance is what drove me more to the show and the character as it is a very emotional and moving track.

Well, there is no doubt that the audience is excited to watch Rasika Dugal back in Delhi Crime Season 2.
