Tellychakkar recently got in touch with the actress and got to know some interesting insights.
This is your first break. How was your experience shooting for Shiksha Mandal?
“The experience was amazing and I feel super blessed. I feel lucky that it was my first time on set and I got to play such an important role with some really incredible actors. It was like a jackpot for me to be able to work with such amazing people. Everybody knew I was a fresher so they were very nice to me. I felt very welcome and it didn't feel like my first time. It just took me a couple of days then it felt like home.”
How did you bag the role in Shiksha Mandal?
“I had done theatre in Delhi and when I first came to Mumbai, I did a lot of workshops in acting. I was basically gaining knowledge from various sources. Then I started giving auditions and got really lucky as this was my 2nd audition when I got selected. I made sure that I looked and felt the part I had to play.”
How did you prepare for your role?
“My character is a decade younger than my real age. I tried my best to look like the part. The girl is in her teenage years so I didn’t have my eyebrows done, did not wax my hands and I did not apply any makeup. So if I had acne, I did not hide it. I thought about what her thinking process will be like. She is a teenage girl and has not had the experience which I, Iram, have had. So there will be certain things that she would not think about. Even the outlook towards pain and sadness is different in that age. So I compartmentalized things like that. Rest, the director helped and guided me throughout.”
