MUMBAI:  Actor Jay Thakkar has been winning the hearts of the fans over the time with his projects. He is indeed one of the most loved actors we have in the acting space. Currently, the actor is getting all he love for his OTT show titled UP 65 on Jio Cinema.

During an exclusive interaction with TellyChakkar, actor Jay Thakkar spoke about the love he is receiving for the show UP 65 and also on what made him agree to the show.

Jay Thakkar on the response for his character and the show

Jay Thakkar says, “The most pleasant response that I am receiving from my fans and viewers for my character is when everyone calls me 'Maharaj Bro' and reply to me in my own Banarasi slang and accent. My well wishers are constantly messaging me that they are in awe with the dramedy love story, the emotional chart of my character, dialogue deliveries and comedy timings. During the screening of our series, everyone was laughing hysterically at the entry of my character and were quite relating with my quirky love story, which made me feel that I finally delivered my art & passion to my fans & viewers, whom I love the most. It made me feel really content and happy.

Jay Thakkar on what made him agree to the show

Jay Thakkar adds, ‘I agreed to the show & my character because it's quite relatable to my own personality. Wittiness & humor is very close to my heart and I have always made people, family & friends around me laugh, which is my favourite thing to do. Also, this character was based on Banaras and I always loved picking up local, authentic and raw accents in my previous shows. Before this, I learnt proper local Bhopali accent in Sony TV's "Ek Dujey Ke Vaaste-2' show, then I learnt fluent Bhojpuri accent for Amazon Prime's Show- 'Laakhon Mein Ek ', and when I was told that I had to pick up a fluent Banarasi accent for this pivotal role of Mohit Maharaj, I was instantly convinced as it was challenging. Besides that, there are a lot of subtle sarcasms and quirky satirical examples that I personally use in my own life situations which helped me improvise more and build my own character in every different scenes”.

Jay Thakkar on the shooting Experience & Location Covered

Jay Thakkar says, “The shooting experience was quite hectic with different units covering different shoot locations, both in Banaras and Baroda. We had a deadline to finish 10-12 scenes in a day in each unit. So, we had to revolve around Unit A , and then go for different scenes in Unit B. What I essentially learnt, that no matter how many scenes I am told to pull off in a day, I will never ever give up on the quality of my acting. In this journey and experience of shooting 2 seasons in 3 schedules for 3-4 months, my acting and artistic quality was never compromised. We were asked to shoot for 12-16 hours a day for 10-15 scenes in various outdoor locations. I always used to rehearse, add improvisations and think out of the box a night before my next shoot. I used to make notes in my personal script file”.
