Gaslight review

MUMBAI:Movie Gaslight has been the talk of the town ever since it was in the making. The movie, which has some amazing starcast like Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey, Chitrangda Singh, Akshay Oberoi and Rahul Dev, promised to be full of thrill as the name is unique and catchy. Ever since the trailer was out, fans were eagerly looking forward to the movie. Today, the movie has premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, and here's the complete review of the movie.

The story begins with the leading character Meesha played by Sara Ali Khan, who is back to her palace in search of her father, who was staying there with the Rukmani, played by Chitrangada Singh and Kapil, played by Vikrant Massey. Well, what has happened to her father and what is the entire conspiracy is about, is something shown in the movie.

The premise of the movie is good but the build up is very slow. The direction given by Pawan Kirpalani is strictly decent and the screenplay is dull.

Talking about the performances, it is out and out a Vikrant Massey show. Once again, we are undoubtedly going to see a brilliant performance coming from the side of the actor. On the other hand, the leading lady of the movie, Sara Ali Khan, delivered decent performance. It was good to see Chitrangda Singh after a long gap and she was decent on her parth. Talking about others in the cast, like Akshay Oberoi and Rahul Dev, they had less to offer, but were good on their part.

Talking about the positive point of the movie, it has to be the premise, which is very promising. The crafting of the suspense is done beautifully. Another major point has to be actor Vikrant Massey and his strong performance. On the other hand, one of the major high points of the movie has to be the great BGM and a few jumpscare moments, which helps in building suspense and thrill.

Having said that, there are a few negative points in the movie as well. It is the screenplay, which dips in between for several times. The writing of the movie is very poor and the screenplay is dull and a little slow. Also, it takes time for the build up and crafting of suspense in the first half. On the other hand, the second half has a few interesting scenes, but at the same time, looks a little clustered.

Having said all these points, Gaslight is a complete treat for all the Vikrant Massey fans and the ones who love thriller.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 2.5/5 for Gaslight. If you have watched the movie, do share your reviews in the comment section below.
