MUMBAI: ZEE5’s much awaited movie Ghoomketu starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui released today. This rollercoaster ride also features Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun, Raghubir Yadav, and Swanand Kirkire and is directed by Pushpendra Nath Mishra.
The story begins with a struggling writer named Ghoomketu, played by Nawauddin Siddui, who has left his village and family and come to Mumbai to fulfil his writing dream in the world of Bollywood. Meanwhile, his family members are worried about him and file a missing person complaint with corrupt police officer Inspector Badlani. What happens to Ghoomketu in the city of dreams? Well he be able to fulfil his dreams or will Badlani catch him before that? Watch the movie to find out.
Ghoomketu’s family comprises his dadda, his hotheaded father, played by Raghuvir Yadav; his wife Janki Devi l, played by Ragini Khanna; his uncle Guddan Chacha, played by Swanand Kirkire, and the very sweet and loving character of Santo Bua, played by talented Ila Arun.
The screenplay of the movie is very weak and does not hold the interest of the audiences, who may tend to feel bored throughout. The only interesting part is the special appearances made by Bollywood stars like Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, who reprise the DDLJ train moment, and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.
The dialogues are good. As the story is based in the village Mohani, the dialogues are kept fresh and raw. You'll get to hear a few nice one-liners.
The music by Sneha Khanwalkar is decent and goes well with the spoofs shown in the movie.

The positives are the performances of the star cast. Ila Arun steals the limelight. The spoofs are interesting.
The negatives are the weak storytelling and screenplay. The story is very predictable and has nothing new to offer.
Talking about the performances, Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the role of Ghoomketu has given a decent performance, but we have seen him give better. Raghuvir has nothing much to offer in the movie, but when it comes to comedy, Anurag Kashyap delivers some funny moments and does justice to his role. Ila Arun in the role of Santo Bua defines versatility with her character, and you will fall in love with her and would want to see more of her. Ragini Khanna has only 2 to 3 scenes and does a fine job.
Directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra, Ghoomketu should be seen only for the performances of the leads, especially Ila Arun.
Team TellyChakkar goes with 2.5 stars for ZEE5’s Ghoomketu.
